I don't think we have to wonder whether Cade opts out his last game at Clemson. Kids a winner. Since 5th grade. That's hilarious. Good story.

MJC, not wanting to be redundant, but all I can relate

is a message I received after the ACCCG from a close Texas cousin, who just retired as a head coach there: "See what I told you about Cade! You ain't seen nothing yet."
Not many people here have a complete concept of football in the Lone Star state due to its size. DW4 and Trevor played for schools in Georgia with 1500-2000 students. Cade played at a school, one of Texas' largest, with 3000 students at the highest level, 6A. They have high school stadiums there seating over 60,000 people,..stadiums that would rival many collegiate venues. And he lead Westlake to three...three state championships. You can understand why the Texans at UT and TAMU were in an uproar, when he committed to us.
Same cousin sent an earlier message upon his commitment: "Clemson and Dabo Swinney have a national pull at the top of the heap that schools fear. Every dammmm one of them are going to watch Clemson's recruiting like you can't imagine."

Knowing that is why I'm not a proponent of trying to outbid other programs for players and why I have no fear of falling behind.
It's also why I have no concern over the portal and thinking that's the only way to build a NC team. IMO, LSU was lucky to be a year ahead of the curve. All this 'monkey see, monkey do, thing on Tnet is popular to those who have forgotten, or just don't realized, who we are.
I believe other programs are tying to compensate for their lack of ability to draw top talent by getting heavily involved in paying to play and the hit or miss experiment of the portal transfers.

Thanks for posting. One statement jumped out at me.

Disclaimer: I watched Cade play 4 or 5 games last year, live streaming, and had read several comments by his coach (a true HS legend in TX) about Cade.
But, this quote jumped out at me.
****** “There have been too many true freshman quarterbacks that have been thrown to the wolves before they’re ready. Dabo knows when they’re ready. Everything has been a building block for what Cade did the other night.” ********
He seems to have a much higher opinion of Dabo's decision making than most of the posters here.

Todd Dodge also Coached and won multiple State Championships at Southlake Carroll with Chase Daniel & Greg McElroy. Same school R.J Mickens came from. Todd Dodge & his son (Riley) coached opposing teams for the TX State Championship a year or 2 ago.
Cade comes from a solid foundation of good Coaching. No doubt about it.
