I dunno. Some guys just have injury problems, not their fault. Played with more than one guy who just couldn't catch a break. Or actually, caught all of them. Sometimes one thing can also lead to another, nothing sets you up for one injury worse than a prior injury, it's just a chain thing.
Always heard good things about Ngata's attitude; he's just had the injury bug ever since he's been here.

I have been slow to say that it was mental, but when reports came out that Dabo had to have a talk with him about attitude earlier in camp, it just all paints a picture. It is all speculation, but he is losing a lot of faith from a lot of fans. Not that he cares what fans think, but there are about 3 guys that I am more excited about than him at this point.

We’ve had a few over the years. Bright future coming in and can’t get healthy. Brighton Constantine comes to mind. I had huge hopes for him. I saw him at the spring game still with the team and doing media stuff.

What was that guys name I think in the late 80s or early 90s, something along the lines of Chinadu Ohan?
He was built with a body like Herschel Walker or an Olympic bodybuilder and I remember all the guys said he was a total freak athlete, but the guy was always hurt. Practice like Tarzan, play like Jane.
A lot of these guys that love working out and live in the gym that are very ripped have a lot of injury issues. It’s like golf. Tiger was all muscular and always having injury issues. Compared to guys that were not muscular that never had issues.
I think the body can be like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. When you get that muscular that tone that ripped you have more injuries and more problems The same way a lot of expensive sports cars have a lot of mechanical issues.

Additional muscle mass (to a point) has been shown consistently in research to have many benefits.
The problem is that strength and conditioning for football is focused on “power” and “explosiveness,” meaning lots of low reps, heavy weight, and momentum-based lifts. This inherently leads to a greater risk of injury, even with good coaches who teach good form for these lifts.
Plus, football itself is a sport that has a high injury risk given its high impact nature.

Exactly! That is why I am to only carry a modest amount of muscle mass, with extra padding for safety. Can’t be too careful.

Good thing is we have talent and depth at receiver, especially on the outside. This is not the position group to worry about.

JK Jay was the 3rd rated tackle in the country coming in as a freshman. Played in the spring game and never saw field again. Two back surgeries and he was done. Don't know all the facts surrounding Joseph but I am sure his confidence and frustration level have been tested. He looked great in his first spring game and it's been mostly a struggle since then. Pulling hard for him to make a few plays, regain some confidence, and play to his potential. A little too soon to give up on him as he has 2 years remaining to find his way.

elite, almost freaky physical ability at a young age, seem injury prone in college. Its almost like they outgrow their bodies ability to stay healthy. I have no idea if there is any evidence for this, just an observation.

Ngata has plenty of time to break out on the field and put it all together. If they have to err on the side of caution in camp because of his injury history that’s not the end of the world. I loved his HS film and of all the receivers, he’s the one I want to put it together the most. Powell’s career may be a great comp where he got his chance to shine late. Fingers crossed…ditto for Ladson. We need one of those guys to produce.
