know one of them would pay $1 billion for Mahomes if they could (especially if all players only had 1-year contracts)
How long will it take the college billionaires to figure this out? Or do they have enough billions where they don't really care?

The billionaires in the NFL realized that the overall product is important… Nobody at the college level is ever going to do that. These billionaires that are going to fund these teams are only interested in their team…
Everyone just needs to remember the golden rule
Who has the gold, makes the rules

It will take a couple of years (2-5) for this to settle down into a new normalcy. Until then it will be a wild ride.

Yes, the NFL does have salary caps, BUT players have the freedom to go outside the NFL to earn big bucks with advertising, acting, etc. Haven't you seen the State Farm ads, etc.? It's the NFL version of NIL.
If a limit were placed on what the school paid the athlete, it still wouldn't affect what a player can make through NIL. I do not see any way to limit or control that.

the players have any value in an ad - even the Sanders kid needs his Dad in the commercial as well to move the needle.)
I'm wondering if they'll find a way or need a way to police themselves eventually. Or if there will be infinite billionaires (or billions) to keep stepping in.

The minimum salary for NFL rookies is $795k, and rookies that get drafted in the first few rounds are making significantly more than that. Only a small number of college players are making that much, mostly QBs.

When players who are getting millions from a school become a bust is when things will begin to change. But not until then.

Coaches get millions and bust all the time, but coaching salaries just keep going up.
