first FP1 of the season tomorrow bright and early....let's discuss.
I'm interested to see, both in the first race and in the season.....
1) Is Mercedes really starting the season this far on the back foot, or is this just more of the same "poor old us" sandbagging.
2) Is Red Bull as good as they look? Tailing off of point 1, are they really faster than Merc? Rumor mill has it that Honda engineers, knowing this was the final season, threw the kitchen sink at this engine and it's supposed to be badasss.
3) Who's got the faster car, McLaren or Aston Martin? Am I the only one who feels like it's a given that they'll be faster than Ferrari?
4) Will Vettel regain his form over the course of the season or has he lost it?
5) Will Renault give Alonso a car he can do anything with? Not expecting much, given them sacking Cyril so late in the off-season and bringing in a motoGP guy with zero F1 experience, but one can hope.
6) Who will win the teammate battles? Ricciardo vs Norris and LeClerc vs Sainz in particular.

He’s mellowed a lot and I like him now. Really hope he does well and turns it around. At a minimum I hope he beats Daddy’s Boy Stroll.

on anyone for Bahrain. The very early races are always when Merc is most vulnerable and there's a lot of wild cards this year. Feels like Verstappen's to lose, but I'm thinking that if they do struggle, Merc gets it together by the European races in mid April.

Couple pundits have them picked for 2nd place. They never forgot how to build a car and now they got a Merc engine pushing it around—podiums shouldn’t be rare.

I think Alpine(Renault) might surprise some folks. That is if they can keep an engine working and how Alonzo’s return plays out. I also think Ocon is a better driver than Sanchez when they were with the force one team. Had it not been for money Ocon would probably have not lost his seat.
But like Celtic, I think I’m more into this than I thought I’d be. It’s amazing the amount of money spent on 10 teams. Now on my sports bucket list to attend one.

before you know it you’ll be getting up at 6am on Sundays to catch race starts.
Good time to be joining as a fan. Next season brings completely new car regulations so hopefully a bit of a reset in the predictability of recent years.
