New Story: Tim Bourret: The man who isn't a myth but is certainly a legend

Tim Bourret: The man who isn't a myth but is certainly a legend

I don’t have a say in the matter, but Clemson’s Tim Bourret belongs in the Ring of Honor alongside other Tiger greats. I first met Tim back in 1987, and my respect has grown over time. Photo by Rob Kinnan / USATODAY Full Story »

Tough to see him leave us from his full time roll. Glad to know he will still be around. What an incredible man.

Bourret deserves every accolade he will undoubtedly receive. His career at Clemson is unparalleled in excellence.

David, what were his books about?

Who is attempting to take his job? I hope we have used his wisdom to continue his methods of success for many years to come. I’m sure he has insured Clemson will be set with his impact for years to come.

How did we steal him from Notre Dame for so long?

I definitely agree that Tim Bourret deserves a place in the ring and somehow I believe they will honor him that way this season.

Is Dabo and Jesus loves him, so I do too!

Thank you, Tim, for your great work and dedication.

Bob Bradley was the all-time best but TB was excellent too

Jan 27, 2018, 11:04 AM

Bob Bradley didn't have an aloof bone in his body. Whether you were with the weakest daily in the state or Sports Illustrated he treated you the same. Bob Bradley often called to see if I desired to see a game or two from a different vantage point back in high school and he would always, just like Jim Phillips, go out of his way to shake my hand and make me feel important even back in high school. Of course even though we were winners then under Coach Ford things were much different then. Tim Bourret learned from the best! The thing I loved most about him was his mind and love for statistics. He knew it all committed to memory!! Both Bourret and Bradley were hard workers. TB will be greatly missed but hopefully he will still be around.

Sure fire Ring of Honors I've seen in my lifetime:

1. DW4
2. CJ
3. Dabo
4. Bourret

Thanks for the story, David. Wow what a day that was- meeting Bob, Tim, Howard, and going to GA- Clemson game with Dan! That was a great rivalry in those days! Always a great game. Clemson has been blessed to have these greats as SID!!

He will be missed for sure. How he memorized all of the statistics, players names, years played etc.
