Neuheisel and Childers regarding Kearse

Jan 14, 2016, 4:00 PM

On XM today the hosts were talking about Kearse's lack of effort on several plays in the title game. Obvious that Neuheisel had not watched us very closely, but he was really dumbfounded by what most of us have seen for the past 8 or 9 games. I just can't understand what must have gone on in the game reviews when Venables,Reed, and the other defensive backs continued to see this lazy, sorry attitude. How they continued to let him keep starting is absurd. Green had plenty of busts but he always hustled. Jadar Johnson,Van Smith and Jeffrey Gibson had to be wondering what was going on. Lack of effort should never be tolerated. The safeties and special trams cost us from not only winning, but winning big.

Talent and effort are two separate things. Please don't confuse the two!

Nah. I stayed at the LaQuinta Inn. I am saying just what you read.....Don't confuse talent and effort.

I have read the initial post again. I see what you are saying. No Sir I do not see Venables tolerating a player who is not giving his best effort.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The whole defense was banged up

Jan 14, 2016, 4:46 PM

Kearse played in the box as much as any safety in the country this year. After 14 games, everyone was battling something. It just shows up more in space than in a pile

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is a stupid comment

Jan 14, 2016, 4:48 PM [ in reply to And what do you know of the situation other ]

It doesnt take a paid college coach to see when somebody isn't giving 100% effort. Wake up!

So should Venables and Dabo be called out

Jan 14, 2016, 4:50 PM

for allowing him to loaf the last half of the year? What about his teammates? You think they may have taken issue with it at some point? Can't say he was checked out without calling them out as well

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So should Venables and Dabo be called out

Jan 14, 2016, 4:54 PM

It was either #### poor effort or an injury. The coaches could see it they are not blind. I hope this doesn't speak about our players that are behind him

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Played for the Natty, safe to assume they aren't blind

Jan 14, 2016, 5:08 PM

So, knowing Dabo and Venables, you think they knowingly allow a player to go half arsed when you are trying to play for a Natty? Yes, the answer should be obvious

Venables didn't even know Shaq was out of the Orange Bowl till halftime. Not sure your agreement is a hard counter. Could you honestly say Kearse Play did not deteriorate over the last half of the season?

Re: Neuheisel and Childers regarding Kearse

Jan 14, 2016, 4:11 PM

On Clemson insider Robert wrote the same thing about tj and kearse that they checked out weeks ago. Kearse wanted no part of henry. And that tj should have stopped that punt from going in the end zone. Also the busted coverages. That Alexander would have made the tackle on the te that went big down the sideline. But did say at least green tried.

No complaint with Green's effort at any time, just some terrible busts. Do not fault him for not being able to down the kick. Kearse,on the other hand, clearly gave less than maximum effort repeatedly. If you saw the #### poor effort he made to tackle Switzer on uncheat's last touchdown in the ACC championship game and the half-hearted effort he made on many occasions to run down opponents and compare this to the game-saving play against Louisville last year it is very obvious he checked out after the Ga.Tech game.

Jan 14, 2016, 4:17 PM

Having Alex out might have contributed to this. We used to have Mac on an island alone all year and all 14 games .. Now this changed in the second half of natty and these boys were not trained well in how to do the coverage in the absence of Mac ..

This is just an opinion and without any understanding of football x's and o's.

knowingly and willfully put a gut he knew to be going half arsed on the field the entire season

Re: Neuheisel and Childers regarding Kearse

Jan 14, 2016, 4:20 PM

I'm 100% convinced Kearse was hurt since the Cuse game. His effort was bar none before that game. He may have withheld an injury from the coaches so he could keep playing. He planned on going pro before the season, missing games might have dropped his stock and he probably thought he could gut out the season.

This is pure speculation BTW.

I think he's been playing with a nagging injury

Jan 14, 2016, 4:22 PM

Most of the year. One he could play with, but one that deprived him of the speed and quickness he clearly has. He didn't show that at any point over the last 5-6 games

He was the guy that tracked down that wr from Louisville when I thought game over.

Now I would definitely agree with this, not that you care. For WHATEVER reason, something about his play on the field was just a little different. Just a little.

What was his "grade" over the last half of the season? Is there any way to look that up???
