Need to replace these players next year.

Jan 11, 2013, 2:36 PM

Defense:
Safety - Meeks
Safety - Hall
DE - Goodman

Blanks will man one of the safety spots. The other safety spot may be the biggest question mark on the team. I don't see anyone on our current roster that can fill in there. I believe Kearse and Johnson in this class are both safeties. Also Geohagan was a 4 star recruit last year, I believe. The only returning player I put much hope in is Smith, but I don't really see him as the solution. So one safeyt spot is a huge need in a secondary that was the weak link for the defense this year.

DE: The good news, Barnes, Crawford and Beasely are all back. Beasely was a pure pass rusher this past year and needs to add about 30 pounds without losing quickness. If he does that he can be a good passing situation pass rusher. He is not an every down type DE. Crawford and Barnes both had good and bad moments this past season, but should be better with another year in the program. Rogers, S. Lawson and Ogundeko will all three have a shot at signiificant playing time, next year. C. Lawson would be a great pick up for next year.

Kicker: Benton graduates but his replacement(s) are already on campus.

Offense:
Nuk - WR
Brown- WR
Ellington- RB
Ford - TE
Freeman - C

WR: Nuk and Brown. The biggest need here is for Sammy to return to form and be Sammy. There is more than enough talent to go around here. The only concern may be depth if Montavis does not get it together and return. If he does this position only losses experience, the talent is still there.

TE: Ford. Sekninger and Cooper are adequate. However, in Morris' offense, adequate is not good enough at TE. It woul be really nice if MacLain would live up to his recruiting promise. This is an area of concern for me. Leggett has the frame 6' 6" but needs some bulk to play TE at this level.

Center: Freeman. Norton apperas to be the guy, but I hope Guillermo lives up to what we thought he could be coming in. Center needs depth and we need 2 guys here at a minimum. Either way looks like center will be a sophomore next year. It is a bit concerning that there are no OL recruits in this class as yet.

RB: Ellington. I know Hot Rod played very well down the stretch. But there was a significant drop off between AE and Hot Rod. No offense, but Hot Rod is not the take it the distance anytime he touches the ball kind of threat. I really believe Dye coming in has a great chance at becoming the number 1/number 2 guy. Brooks also showed flashes. I know he was a head case, but what I wouldn't give for Bellamy right about September 7.

RB we will be fine. We need to a commitment from North to sure up WR depth for the long term. Norton will probably start next year a center and then move to Guard as Guillermo progresses. The biggest recruit we have right now, is the 60 lb baby Region is carrying around. He has that baby, and I think the o-line will be set.

RB, we will be fine becuase?? Ragion will be entering

his third year in the program and hasn't shown any ability to climb the depth chart so far. Crowder would be a nice pick up.

RB will be taken over by comity

We have plenty of numbers and talent there we'll just need them to step up

Beasley is a passing down situational rusher at his current weight. If he puts on 30 pounds he will be 265 and then he is an very down rusher. Von Miller is only like 240 and he's one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. I think Beasley could have a huge year next year if he works hard this offseason and sees a few more snaps next year.

Don't forget about JJ McCollough at TE. He is considered by some to be Dwayne Allen with better hands and at 6-5 is probably taller than Allen

As far as tight ends you forgot Jay Jay McCullough, he's 6'5" 235 and will be a RS Freshman next season. And at that size he is as big/bigger than Dwayne Allen and Brandon Ford and he's probably faster than both too. He's raw but he has a chance at some serious snaps next season if he has a good offseason.

Don't forget Maverick Morris, OT from Georgia in the 2013 cycle, and if we get Tyrone Crowder that's two offensive linemen in this class and that's about all they wanted to take. I think Norton will be good at center and MacLain moved to O-line so between him and Isaiah Battle one of them should be able to push for some PT and then Brandon Thomas can move back to his more natural Left Guard position. But he did great this season at LT so I give him a ton of credit.

Maverick Morris is by all accounts a "project" so at best

he is probably two years away. Nothing against the kid and he may play in the NFL in the future, but he is unlikely to help us anytime soon.

Yes but we don't need an OL to come in and start

Jan 11, 2013, 4:33 PM

we only lose Dalton and like you said we have 2 capable centers ready to step in. Morris and Crowder will be good especially since McClain is moving to OT and Maybank to OG. We really could have 4 new players in the OL pool next year.

The definition of awesome!

Christian is a junior and will be back and yes Brewer is

vacating a DB spot. Snagging Alexander this recruiting cycle would be nice.

Robinson, Jenkins, and Breeland will take the CB spots

Jan 11, 2013, 4:31 PM

also hearing good things about Geohaugan(sp) who RS this year as well as a few other DBs coming in
