Need a new offensive coordinator...

Oct 14, 2017, 4:33 PM

Bash me all you want about what I’m going to say. But the only reason for the success we have had is Defense and Dashaun Watson. We would of won a National championship no matter who called the plays last year DW4 was just that good. He’s gone now and I’m tired of seeing screen passes that doesn’t work. And no consistency running the ball. Our Defense will not be as good next year. And Trevor Lawrence will not see the feild because KB been here longer. Dabos seniority will hurt us at QB. And you have seen it this year the offense struggle at times even with KB. Because of predictable pathetic play calling. We will have to out score people next year to win. And I don’t think Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott’s play calling will do us any favors. We need to hire a good offensive coordinator please.

I agree. Even though we have had good records, many of those wins were barely the last 2 seasons. It was the magic of DW4 that got us a lot of those close wins.

I expect your team will have a new OC next year. Roper sux.

We'll be just fine. It's one game.

It’s hilarious how people call you a coot for being honest. Everyone knows deep down our offense has struggled at times and is predictable. I’m one of the biggest Clemson fans there is but I’m gonna speak my mind. That game last night was very winnable and everyone knows it.

You have yourself convinced you've got all the answers. You don't. Yes DW was a better QB than KB, but it's not all play calling that was the issue against syracuse. KB wasn't 100% last night going into the game, but was hit and aggravated his ankle in the first qtr. I will say the game plan was a little off in regards to that, but to call for OC's heads is assinine.

You saying we need to add a third offensive coordinator?

I just re-read my post to make sure, but I didn't think I typed that. So, no that's not what I said, nor am I implying that.

What offense hasn't struggled at times over a 2 year period? Tell me who you would hire?

It's just like a Coot , though .
Berating the offensive coordinators after a bad game ...but where we can all agree is that those same two guys have coordinated only 4 losses since they became co-coordinators .
Now you can claim that it was the QB , or the defense that won all of those games ..but that just sounds a little more Cootish .
You win as a team , you lose as a team ...only perennial losers blame the misfirings on any particular facet .
It's called cherry picking , but in reverse .

If Hunter Johnson would of played. And was alowd to throw the ball down field. We would of won last night. I have no doubt about that.

No, you have no CLUE about that, because it's entirely hypothetical. Now please pipe down.

Oct 14, 2017, 5:28 PM

I think Tony Elliot tries to be too methodical. I'd like to see Scott call an entire game solo. I agree. Elliot is a good coach just seems to not have a killer instinct as a play caller. I miss the up tempo and motioning guys to create mismatches and confusion(much like cuse did last night)

I agree with you on that. Maybe Scott should call a entire game. Elliott calls plays not to loose with no killer instinct.

Before he does that........

Oct 14, 2017, 7:44 PM

Dabo needs to get his fingers out of the pie on individual play calls and let the coordinators do their job. Yes, he should dictate overall offensive starategy and trends, but not the individual plays. I have noticed an increasing propensity for him to be looking at his colored play card and yakking into the headset in every play- it looks likes a redux of the Billy Napier "offensive coordinator" years, and we all know how that worked out.

He needs to focus on being a head coach and concentrating on the head coach kind of things......maybe like whether he needs a quarterback change, why his two 5 star running backs averaging 11 YPC have only touched the ball 12 times between them, should he actually attempt a field goal or not, what's going on with the defensive backs and their coverage deficiencies those sort of things. Just sayin'

With the money we spend, we should do like Kirby Smart and hire us a NFL O.C.

Lets see how the rest of the season plays out before firing someone. I have concerns but not sure yet who to blame for us not winning.

I 100% agree! Many other teams(i.e. VA tech are starting FRESH/RFRESH at QB)that are doing well and gaining valuable experience, while we are starting a junior that has been around the program for the past 2.5 years and looks like a fresh. If we don't change the "you've put in your time mentality" vs you are the best skilled player that gives us the best chance to win, our program at the QB position will be mediocre at best as recruits will have no part of it. I like KB and think he does give us the best chance to win, but I'm a bit disappointed about his readiness with being around the system for the past 3 years.
