NCAA tournament

Please help me understand - If the NET ranking is the critical measure and Clemson is #35 why wouldn’t they be in the tournament? I assumed the NET took everything into consideration. If they are knocked out due to other reasons, then change the measure. Thanks!

If NET takes all other metrics into consideration, then we would likely be in. It's hard to give a team like St. John's credit for 3/4 Quad 1 wins, when their NET is in the 70's.
If the NET is just one metric, then who knows what will happen.
I know this... we have a fairly high NET... highest amongst bubble teams, except for Texas. Other teams who are considered "in" have a much lower NET. I don't know what that means, but we'll see.

It is but it is not the only measure.
First you have (correct me if I am wrong) 32 conference champions. That leaves 36 at-large bids.
So we would be on the bubble regardless if solely on NET.
Next, and what is going to happen is that they are going to start looking for "disrupting" wins. Teams that are betting better programs but are inconstant... but could make a run. We are not one of those teams. Next, they are going to look at heritage/fan support. Basically, if our name was "duke" at 9-9 we would be in. You still have the eye and ear test.
They have done this is the past when they took a 9-9 NC State team over a 10-8 Clemson team that beat NC State by 17.

that 35 ranking includes conference champions...
and I am not advocating for us... but I do think we "fit the bill" as a team that would be dangerous and capable of a Sweet 16 run.
