Out of all the major sports which do you think it is hardest to make it to the pros?

Jul 11, 2017, 9:23 PM

In my mind it's baseball. Amazing that out of all the good players we've had recently only three of them are in the MLB.

And the squads are bigger. I think there's only 30 NBA teams and 400 some NBA players.

Must be NBA

less guys on the team, extreme height requirement, and theoretically anyone can play and be good at it even practicing alone. Large talent pool and very few openings.

Agreed. The physical anomalies that play NBA basketball are so rare to begin with (6'6" and above), PLUS they have to become the most technically skilled, coordinated basketball players in the world. That combination is infinitesimally small compared to the general population. If there are 400 active players, there is effectively one player for every 17,500,000 people on earth.

Ping pong. Such a grueling sport. And the Chinese make it so hard for us Americans.

Baseball. Read a Tim Kurkjian book a few months back, I Love Sacrifice Flies, that emphatically proved the point. The amount of skill required to hit a ball traveling that fast, and the milliseconds you have to decide, is incredible. Good book, btw.

Difficulty of the sport actually doesn't matter at all.

Jul 12, 2017, 7:05 AM

No matter what you are doing, it's about being one of the ### best in the world at doing it. There are more than twice as many MLB players than NBA players.

Wrestling hands down. They said you have a better shot at being on a NBA team, NFL, MLB, UFC or Hockey team than making it in the WWE.

To me it's baseball, if you mean the "majors" ...

Jul 12, 2017, 8:54 AM

... however if you count the "minor leagues" as being professionals, them it's probably the easiest by far.
