Seems like there is a lot of talk around signing time about where guys are from. I wonder how much (if any) consideration is given to where someone is from when looking at who to offer? I.E. - offering the prospect from New Mexico vs the similar prospect in NC because it expands our brand further geographically.
David Hood did an article on our expanding footprint but it slips me as to when that was. Basically stating that the Paw has so much recognition now that we have kids being turned down. I remember distinctly Dabo talking about how we did want to expand but we wanted to keep our core geo area. Great article about how it's a balancing act because you don't want to overextend yourself and/or your staff.
Hopefully someone that's a little younger than me can remember when that was. hth.
Years back, Nebraska made a living on their national recruiting footprint. Maybe they have their coach figured out now, but they will be challenged to regain their reputation and recruiting success. Compared to Nebraska, Clemson has access to more great players in a given area. IMO Clemson should still put effort in national recruiting esp. 4 and 5 star players - all the elite schools take advantage of this opportunity.
