FSU and Clemson are by far the most desirable additions remaining for the "Big 2." Look up revenue numbers, TV viewership, etc.
Only two schools from the ACC are in the top 18 for these categories - FSU and Clemson. This UVA and UNC gossip is laughable.
It's not about markets in 2024 - it's about viewership. It's not close. If the Big 2 can feasibly get FSU or Clemson they will swoop them up in a heartbeat.

It's about football. Football is driving this. If anyone believes that the SEC and maybe the Big10 would water down there product which would give the other league a heads up for money is what is laughable. Basketball doesn't matter, Baseball doesn't matter and women sports definitely doesn't matter.

It is about the money and some other things.
FS and Clemson bring the most viewers, even more than most SEC/Big teams.
I don't think FS is a fit with the BIG who consider themselves above money (they are not).
I believe UNC is a good fit for them.

But by Feb 2025 it will be settled. In Feb, ESPN will review and probably cut their payout to the ACC. Before then, or by then, ESPN will know what ACC teams that they would be able to schedule for prime time games. They need to know what they are buying for the following 10 years. And ESPN would contract, accordingly, with the ACC. Without Clemson and FSU, ESPN Wwould likely cut their offer by 30%, or more.
I know you don't want change, but the ACC will not be able to match the payouts that the SEC and BIG will pay. So, Clemson and FSU would then be relegated to the lower classes of teams that won't be capable of putting competive FB, basketball and/or baseball teams. And Clemson & FSU will not accept that. It is inevitably going to happen!
