Spurrier vrs. Ford..... Who is the better coach?

Jan 15, 2015, 2:44 AM

Seriously, who is better? Personally I'd go with Danny all day but I'm bias. Who is truly better?

Different type coaches for sure. Like you, I'm bias to

Ford but he wasn't perfect by any means. He did have always have a tough, physical team. Spurrier obviously would rather pass the ball over the field than to have to run but figured out in this stint with sc that not only running the b all but having a QB that can run is worth a lot. Different offensive philosophy and I think Ford had better results. One common denominator though at least until this year for sc, they both typically had very good defenses which a lot of times carried the team. I really think Ford's players and assistant coaches probably respected (not sure that's the best word) their head coach more as Ford wold always take blame for a loss where as Spurrier tends to throw his players and coaches under the bus after a loss. Just my two cents!

I agree, two different styles but if all else were equal then

the nod would go to Ford for being man enough to take responsibility for the product on the field. The HC is ultimately responsible for everything!

I'm not bias...

Danny Ford's the better coach. Despite losing head to head to spurrier when he coached Duke. We just lost some key players from a national championship team. Danny got the most out of his players and was a tough rugged farm boy who didn't put up with BS. Spurrier couldn't care less about his players actions off the field as long as they produced on it. I may have lied about not being bias as I bleed orange, my closet looks like Judge Kellers threw up in it. Framed pictures of Dabo, Danny and Frank going down the hallway along with autographed footballs and picture of Davis and Spiller. There's not a room in the house that's not representing!

myself! The wife told me to pick a room because she didn't

want the whole house looking like that so I did and now the man cave looks more like a freakin' Clemson museum...lol. She evens takes her friends there and says "you've got to see this". Helmets, jerseys, balls, and photos cover the entire room!

Everyone says Ford because Dabo hasn't won a championship yet. When he does, I think there will be more debate on this topic. I think both are good coaches, but these are two completely different era's in college football. Schemes throughout the league have changed drastically, so you are coaching against different things.
