My thoughts on the spring game

Apr 9, 2022, 8:04 PM

DJ looked improved since last season (minus that int) and Cade looked solid. Will definitely be a close competition between the two imo. Lot of dropped passes by Collins and Stellato, hopefully they can improve on that. Defense looks phenomenal, D-line will be one of the best in the country. I’m really high on Pride, he had a lot of stellar plays today. Will definitely contribute next season.

Accurate and somewhat muted post (+1)

captaindavidcollins which is appropriate for this afternoon's game which itself was muted. From my perch on the 50, I saw lots of Defense and little Offense.

From what I saw in the first half, since the ACC Network left Clemson at the start of the third quarter and went to UNC which ticked me off, the defense was solid and the offense struggled . This looks like it could be a repeat of last year. Thank goodness we don't open with the dogs but we have struggled with GT in Atlanta. Let's hope the offense improves ....a lot before September.

The GT game could be the make or break game for DJ. If he continues to struggle against a subpar GT defense, it should be time for Klubnik to start.

One play that gives me at least a ray of hope that DJ will

be much improved in the fall. On the play, Mukuba had Ngata blanketed perfectly. DJ launched the best touch pass I have seen him throw in his whole time at Clemson. Right over the shoulder, dropped in the bucket, caught perfectly in stride, nothing Mukuba could do about it. An absolutely perfect throw.

So, it proves he CAN do it. The "touch" rule on the QBs in the scrimmage worked against him and Klubnick. There were plays where I believe both of them would have gotten away from the initial hit and made a play, but never got the chance.

Agree ... the “touch’em anywhere” rule is ridiculous.

So many times today the QBs would have escaped the rush for positive gains either through their feet or their arms.

Taking away DJs lovely TD pass was almost criminal.

The whole thing is slanted toward the defense and creates unrealistic situations.
