They have been there since the stadium opened in 1998. The stadium sits on what used to be a huge railyard. The cabooses are in honor of the past. The huge horn that you will blow during many of our scores tonight  ......is the original horn that blew for shift and lunch breaks there.

The L&N railway is a huge part of Louisville tradition. All of my extended family is there and I was born in Louisville (thank God my parents moved to SC when I was two!). Trains are a huge part of that town's culture so it doesn't surprise me they have cabooses at the stadium. Now, why usuck has them is a mystery to me bc other than crime I can't really name anything that's a huge part of the Columbia culture...
