My Jeep broke

Oct 1, 2021, 6:37 PM

and that has been stress for me and my old weak heart. I know TN is not the best place to cry, but I have been crying. Yall often post as to mental issues and other crap.

The problem was sometimes it would start and sometimes not.
I know it is not factual, but having no vehicle makes me feel like less of a man.
(I suspect by now yall are "speed reading" or have moved on.)
My pain has been real!

I got my license to drive at 14 and have always owned at least one car since 1963. An American man/woman wants a working vehicle. Am I wrong?
I did not go suicidal as I do have the Harley.

I understand that dealerships make their $$ from "after the sale". In these days of computer cars, they have you by the ###.
My last car (Nissan Truck) never again saw a dealer for 16 years and was running fine when I upgraded to my Jeep. Cars now are different. My first car was a VW Beetle and Pop could fix anything on it in his sleep. I was always good to go.

My 2013 Jeep has been in once before due to lights on the dash which I supect are programed to come on over time and not due to any problem.

I expected to be ripped off this time, but my options were ? I understand dealerships have this to a science. Shade tree mechanics like me can't do computer things, and they know that.

In truth some "pro" service is a good thing. I told them to do ### they could to make my Jeep like new.
According to them the "not starting problem" was a bad relay. I already pulled and checked that, so !?!. Will it start next week? A "relay" is just a 50cent fuse.

They did all the many points on their check list. None of mine had been checked in 8 years. They said my gas lines were full of jell from ethanol. I hate ethanol, but that is another post.

They replaced all my fluids in brakes and differentials and ?? They took off the manifold, put in new fuel lines and new spark plugs. They -- ?? --> #### I don't know, it is a long list.

Total cost was $1650.
Now I understand much of that may be magic. Actually I once had a job like that at a tractor-trailer place where I did the billing and knew crap. I "magic" billed companies, and my counterpoints on the other end who also knew nothing paid.

No matter as I have my Jeep back. I love my Jeep would never trade it for even a new one (especailly not for a new one).

Being an optimist, am very happy today. Can it go another 8 years? I hope for much more than that.
I need to get my bike in for the same.

I once had a job in a "h u g e" lot of cars. Trains would drop them off and local a$$holes would attack. They hired me to stop that. Basically I just hung out and drove all the new cars. Folks coming over the fence had to face me.

The Jeep truck arrived back then. It was under powered but would pull hard. I wish I had one.

I suspect your modern Jeep truck is great. My Jeep Wrangler is 8 years old and has been a great buy.

I have never owned or had need of a 4 door vehicle. When Jeep comes out again with a two door model truck ~~~ ?

Wish I had one of those old Jeep trucks now. They always held a certain allure for me, I guess because there were so few on the road and they were just so "off-roady" and kind of tough looking back in that time compared to the standard Big 3 offerings.

Man, that sucks. It's a Jeep. I've quite a few friends and family that have owned Jeeps. Very few good experiences unless it was a old 318 v8.

Having said that, I'm currently coveting a Mopar product. Challenger Widebody 6-speed. 392/485hp

Good post FM.
I now see my post came across as pretending to be macho.
It is impossible to not offend someone here.

I am a long time biker.
I got my first bike in 1970 when discharged - a Triumph Bonneville.
I have always had a bike since then.

Stepping up different from trucks I always had - bought the luxury Jeep after becoming a retired old man. Took out the rear seats day one so have a small enclosed truck. That makes no sense. Why should it need to?

Good deal. Apparently in a short time you had lots of Jeeps and only the last was bad? That means all Jeeps are bad?
I kinda agree as I would not trade my old Jeep for a new model.
