Need to dye my hair I think...

Nov 23, 2021, 9:26 AM

I am all the way gray, maybe a little pepper still strewn in there, but not much. I'm 52. My wife is 48 and looks ten years younger than me, but that is beside the point. This morning, I'm dropping my 3 year old off at daycare and this young fat blond lady is walking out at the same time. I hold the door for her and she looks at me and says, "Oh, a grandad dropping off this morning?" I reply, "No, just a dad, I have a three year old."

At which point chunky doubles down. "REALLY? WOW!"

So instead of making mooing sounds back at her, I just say, "No, I just look old, apparently."

True story, when I was about maybe 6 months old or so

Nov 23, 2021, 9:32 AM

whatever age where the kid's grabbing everything in sight, my dad was holding me in the hardware store. He was checking out with me and I was going crazy trying to grab all sorts of shid. Clerk says to my dad, "boy those grandkids sure are fun huh?" ~ my dad who's 41 years older than me.

Srsly though, I'm more perplexed how your wife at 45 had a babby. That's something.

I think these days 50 is the cut off...

Nov 23, 2021, 9:36 AM

wife's obgyn didn't really ever raise any alarms or treat her as high risk. One of the OB's she saw in rotation told her that from what they could tell from ultrasounds, etc, it's not just her face that looks 10 years younger than her age.

I'm not sure what I'd do if my wife turned up pregnant

First, I'd wonder who the father is.

Nov 23, 2021, 9:34 AM

Doesn't happen to me "all the time" but has happened a few times. Has happened to my wife once or twice as well. The kicker is we don't really look that old, especially her. My graying hair/lack of hair definitely has something to do with it.

I found out that you are just an old creepy man oogling at college girls.

We call him Gandalf. Constantly ask him why he won't let us pass. He totally thinks it's funny, even the 340th time saying it.

Now, I could say "at least he has hair", but I'm not so sure that's better than being bald. I've got him by 5 years, and I think most people would guess he's older than me.

Keep it gray and you can look the same age for a really long time. You will look like you have a hockey puck on your head in 10 years if not and have to shave your head to get it gray again.

Joe21 from the mange who just passed at 99, as we all know, was born while his dad was 50. That's crazy his dad was born in 1871. That seems nuts. His dad died when he was a kid too. Anyway, to extend this tangent, Joe would turn 100 on Thanksgiving I believe.

chuckle... for whatever reason, my family is the opposite. We average almost 40 years between generations.

1880 granddad born
1917 mom born
1957 DSOTM born
1994 my son born

To get 5 generations of us in a photo, somebody would have to live to be about 200.

I’m mostly bald up top but on what’s left around the sides there’s nary a gray or white hair to be found. It seems like the inevitable trade off is full hair, prematurely gray, or prematurely bald, full color till you’re older.

Nov 23, 2021, 11:48 AM

when I started turning gray 15-20 years ago, I used to joke with the chick that did my hair, "better it turns gray than falls out."

Now I just weep since I've pretty much got just a few strands left from the crown forward. You know enough that at a (very) quick glance I don't look completely bald, but my shadow does.
