Diving Boards

May 20, 2022, 8:08 AM

Any of you go to a pool that still has a diving board?

Ours left eons ago.

There’s one in town that I know of. They apparently do their own maintenance in the cover of night to be able to keep it.

Y’all got pools with diving boards?

Our pool has a jump rock with a water fountain underneath

which sounds ALOT fancier than it actually is.

The Pool at the local Country Club has two boards, or at least did when I went out there two years ago. At our old house, we had one and I had multiple friends hit their heads on it while diving, flipping, etc

are ####### sick.

/thread

but no, unfortunately. Most pools don't have them unless like a competition pool. Really makes it tough to do gainers as a fat low 30s dude past his athletic prime...but I 100% give it a rip off the deck, every time, like a boss

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

gainers is exactly why I made this post

May 20, 2022, 11:40 AM

Spoiler Alert:
Today's wordle answer of Gamer transitioned into gainer and I thought about diving boards.

I did complete a front flip the last time i was at the pool with the diving board. Late 30's, half drunk, fat and I still pulled it off.

Glad you can attempt the gainers off of the dock

I usually land somewhere

btwn my chin and my neepuls....but it's a crowd pleaser.

I can still stick a back flip off the deck no problem.

also, keep the camera rolling for the inevitable fat lady getting tangled and falling. You may win $10k on AFV.

I expect at least tree fiddy if that happens

Mama has a slide, but no diving board, we would certainly kill ourselves.

My Grandmother's (RIP) pool in Columbia still has the same

May 20, 2022, 9:14 AM

fiberglass diving board from when the pool was built in the early '80s. Been baking in the Columbia sun for 40 years. My kids and all the midget 50 lb. nieces and nephews love it, but I quit bouncing on it a decade or two ago because of the visions I have of the carnage when it snaps under my 230 lbs. I'll still walk out and jump from it, but I ain't doing no Olympic springboarding on it. Honestly though, it'd probably still hold me just fine--I think it's unkillable asbestos-laden '70s fiberglass.

GCC still using the low one I think.

May 20, 2022, 9:31 AM

Used to have an ? 8' board, but I think they took it down. Google map still shows it... Short and tall right beside each other.

I think Rivertowne's pool still has one

May 20, 2022, 11:43 AM

And doesn't the pool at Hobcaw have one?

I dunno...last pool I was in was a buddy who had a place in Awendaw.
