I'll answer for me. Yes, i sometime get tired of it.
It's why i sometimes take weeks off of tnet.
It's good to pass some time and gauge how others feel about issues but i agree, you very rarely change someone's mind. (On either side of the aisle, facts be ######)

Yeah, facts be ###### seems to be the overall policy, and thats why I tend to stay away from this place. Folks are too reluctant to at least try and see the other side of a discussion.

Actually I learn from these guys. I don't agree with everything they say, but sometimes they bring up perspectives I haven't thought of. Alex, Flow and Bengaline all do this on occasion.
But back to your original point....shut up.

I've learned plenty here. The only thing required to make me change my mind on any subject is evidence.
But it's still fun to poke at idiots.
Having said that, I think this board is a net negative. I don't think it's a good thing that recruits and their families can see some of the insane stuff posted here.

When I was a kid, my mom said I would argue with a signpost. I guess it's still true. I enjoy debating because it gives me some insight into the other side; how they think, why they hold the opinions they do. Not every debate is intended to change the other side's mind. In fact, I'd say most debates don't have that goal. Most of the time it's just fun to spar with someone on the other side.
