Football helmets

Aug 3, 2013, 11:02 AM

From the moment I put on a football helmet, I always wondered Why it was made of hard plastic. If it was made with a rubber exterior it would solve almost all these problems that we have with it.

not really

it may help lesson the blow from helmet to helmet hits but until somebody can figure out a way to stop the brain from rattling around on the inside of the skull then theres going to be concussions..you can wrap bubble wrap around the players heads but that still cant help in these situations

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSskqthHbeE

football is a play at your own risk sport now..since everyone now knows the dangers of concussions they should factor that into their decision on whether or not to play and should no longer be allowed to sue following their careers since they had the knowledge beforehand

most players probably have so much love for the game that they would still see more benefits in playing than not playing like roddy white for example

"..you signed up to play a violent game...i love playing football and if i cant walk when im 50 it was well worth it"

football is the best sport in the world and hopefully it doesnt turn into two hand touch in the future with all the rule changes due to law suits

If the helmet would give more there would be less force going to the brain. Its the same principle as car falling apart during an accident.

Are they going to look like that at game time?

They look goofy. Even if they get pinted with the Paw and all, they still look goofy.

My experience

I played high school and some college football and had numerous concussions. Now at 42 I have a cpap machine due to central sleep apnea, a neural vs physical disorder. The only thing doctors have guessed is that it may be from the concussions. That being said, I don't believe in turning the game into two hand touch. Now, the rubber helmets would generate too much friction which would increase the chance for serious neck injury. IMHO.

You know that's kind of like the idea that
