Has anyone been to an Ole Miss tailgate?

Jul 24, 2015, 9:04 AM

Of all the ones that come a close second to ours (yes very biased opinion), I think "The Grove" would be a fun time....

Just curious if anyone has been there, and if the fans are great hosts.

Stinks on the "Big Ole Miss" for Matthews (if it sticks), but wish him the best.

My daughter (Clemson graduate) has and says........

Jul 24, 2015, 9:09 AM

it's really nice - they do it up big-time but it's not as large a tailgating situation as we have at Clemson. She said "The Grove" is real nice. But she said she doesn't think it's any better than what we have because we have so many different places to tailgate and that WE do it right also.

I have not...

But I havent been to South Dakota either and see no reason to add either place to my list of places I need to go.

Yes I have.....

We didn't tailgate in the Grove (we actually tailgated at another location) but we did walk through it. In a word; crowded. They pack alot of people in that ten acre space.

A few things to note;

1 - No cars and SUV's. The spaces are first come first serve and people start claiming their tent locations Friday morning sometimes as early as 3:00AM depending on the opponent.

2 - No beer cans or bottles. Virtually all drinking is from red and blue cups

3 - Unlike Clemson, they have several really nice portable toilets on 18-wheeler platforms.

4 - The Hotty Toddy cheer is really stupid and gets really old really fast.

5 - I have been to college campus' all over the country and Ole Miss probably has the largest number of smokin hot women I have ever seen.

#5

Definitely lots of really really hot young women

3 Unlike Clemson, they have some nice portable toilets.....

I can't for the life of me figure out why Clemson doesn't have more of what you described with #3. I've been going to games for over 30 years and there has never been enough bathrooms. And let's face it the regular portolets don't get cleaner as the day goes on. It's even harder for families with little kids, glad I'm passed that. Even the alumni center, which has a bathroom, is closed on the 7 or 8 days of the year when there are more alumni on campus than any other time. It would seem someone in the administration or athletic department could figure out a way to improve this.

This is similar to what Ole Miss had ...

Jul 24, 2015, 9:45 AM

They even had sinks with running water.

Maybe there isn't a local company that has them

Some enterprising person with some capital should invest in some.

I had the chance to visit Tuscaloosa last year for the A&M game. That place has the best tailgating and one of the most beautiful campuses. All of their tailgating is centralized to a place called "the Quad" with huge oak trees.

I also was able to go to Baton Rouge for the Bama game last year. That place was unbelievable as well. Their campus is gorgeous. The women are too.

Top Tailgating I've been too:
1.Bama
2.LSU
3.Clemson

Well I've experienced both and I can say without a doubt that its better. I'm a second generation Tiger. Dad went to Clemson 84' and I'm graduating this year.

The buzz and vibe on a game day in Tuscaloosa will send chills down your spine. Yellowhammers are a pretty awesome as well. And the people that actually go to Bama are classy, Harvy Updyke never stepped foot in an Alabama classroom.

so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

There are alot of adjectives one could use to describe Bama fans. I'm just not sure "classy" would be one of them.

FL has the highest number of hottest wimmens in the Southeast, period, with perhaps LSU a close second. The fact that I have a Gator bride has nothing to do with that, btw ;)

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Screw Calford.

Well worth it. Been many times.

Jul 24, 2015, 9:43 AM

My bride was in a sorority at Ole Miss and I never let her down when she says she wants to go back for a game. Oxford and Clemson and similar in many respects and each has an endearing appeal to alumni and visitors.

The Grove is a great experience ... there are very good reasons it is copied and emulated by other schools, and you have to look no further than Chickenville's plans for the imitation/flattery display.

Will be going back this season for the LSU game which is in my opinion more of a rivalry than Mississippi State.

So, go west young man. South and west, that is. Beautiful campus and beautiful wimmens await.

Been there. Too dang crowded and everybody is right on top of one another. Absolutely beautiful women though.
