My change of heart...

Jan 2, 2013, 12:51 PM

Until about twelve months ago, I was a VOCAL member of the anti-Dabo crowd on here. I pointed to his inexperience and wild emotional swings and thin skin - and usually got blasted for it. It got to the point where every post I made on here - regardless of content - was attacked and given thumbs down votes. I decided to walk away from Tigernet for a while to let everything die down a bit.

After seeing our team against LSU, I have to admit that I was wrong about Dabo. That was a fantastic coaching job and the best effort I have seen from a Clemson team in my 15+ years of attending all home games and most games on the road. I said after the game that Clemson is now a phoenix rising and we have Dabo to thank for that.

So please accept my apology and take note that I am admitting that I was wrong. I still do not like Dabo's emotional approach with the media, but I can live with that going forward.

So welcome me back into Tigernet with open arms or continue to attack me because my pulse is so low - that is up to you.

Go Tigers and gulp... Go Dabo - I am now behind you 100% sir!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Welcome aboard Mr. Sandwich....

Jan 2, 2013, 12:54 PM

Know deep down you always have been a fan, but nice to know you've had a change of heart regarding our HC.

The man has this program pointed in the right direction, the only thing left to do is keep his foot on the gas until we get there.

Them puppy dawgs better be worried. There's an @ss whippin' coming there way....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah - definitely always been a fan...

Jan 2, 2013, 12:59 PM

just not of Dabo as a coach - love him as a person... 100% behind him now sir!!!

I jokingly told Dabo to his face he needed to come out of his shell more after the Auburn win at DV. (You remember the ending their winning steak interview on tv). He laughed and took that with very good humor.

That same night I observed him at the BiLo talking to everyone who came in during breaks in his coaches show. Now it didn't matter if you came in for the show or were picking up bread after work. He met you and visited a few seconds. I've never seen a more friendly outgoing person who was more comfortable in his own skin.

The outbursts of emotion aren't my thing but they are Dabo. It is who he is. It is how he deals with things. He is as friendly and down to earth as anyone I've ever met. Very comfortable in his own skin.

Welcome back from the dark side. TU for your admission and your being man enough to say it.

I never fully understood the anti-Dabo crowd. I think if you

Jan 2, 2013, 1:11 PM

objectively look at his performance from day 1, there have been things to criticize, but he fixes things without regard to personalities or friends.

I know there were some x and o mistakes, some game management blunders, but he fundamentally understood, and still does, what had to happen for Clemson to get to the top. It had to change from within and in attention to details.

With TB, there was always something going wrong, even if it changed from year to year, or game to game. Dabo hasn't gone backwards from that standpoint. I prefered him to the crapshoot of hiring a coach from outside, even if "proven".

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think inexperience is a valid criticism...

Jan 2, 2013, 1:13 PM

I have never thought that would be a problem. Dabo has always displayed good leadership principles (aside from his handling of Kyle Parker). He also has that "it" factor that cannot be described in words. He has overachieved in everything he's done.

I don't think the emotional stuff is a big deal. It's who he is and I think the players love it. Is it how I'd act? Probably not. But I don't care if he wears a beanie cap with a fan on top and does cartwheels down the sideline if he wins.

He's moving in the right direction. He better start beating SCar. But the win the other night turned a good season into a great season. The way we played, I would have been happy even if we lost.

Now let's build on this momentum.

The emotion was my largest obstacle to be honest...

Jan 2, 2013, 1:30 PM

I thought it made him and us look like a clown - and it made it seem like he was "surprised" to win these games.

He has toned it down a bit and I hav edecided to just live with it. Results are results...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I understand that...

Jan 2, 2013, 1:38 PM

Honestly, I can live with that after the win. I can't when we are having 70 points run up on us in a bowl game.

Why I think we've taken another step in the right:

We didn't get blown out this year and we never quit in any game this year.

This season is much more satisfying for me than last.

Agree 100%

Jan 2, 2013, 1:54 PM

We competed in every game. We lost twice but competed in both. He isnt try to build a one and done Chizik program and then slump to 3-9 with the NCAA and FBI and who knows who else on campus looking.

He is learning. He is building and I could care less if he sung the national anthem off key.

The program is far better off than 3 years ago and I for one cant wait for the leg humpers to show up in 8 months!

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo has had a plan from the beginning.

Jan 2, 2013, 1:22 PM

I feel that were he not hired as a wr coach and been a coordinator perception of him would be vastly different.
I can understand your skepticism but the guy has systematically improved the team in every aspect that needed addressing. Welcome aboard.

Its all about Family---Clemson Tigers Family

Jan 2, 2013, 1:44 PM

We all have family members whom we do not agree with or even support in their decisions, but by them being a family member we never turn or backs on them or not willing to fight for or with them, thats just being part of a family.

Re: My change of heart...

Jan 2, 2013, 2:46 PM

thumbs up to you.....IMO Dabo has always had his downfalls, but I always have thought that he would outwork anyone. With his youth and enthusiasm, and his knack for selling clemson and himself to recruits that given the chance, he would succeed. I think we are seeing the fruits of placing our trust in the man. I also think that he will be a tiger as long as we will have him, even if Alabama comes calling, because we gave him the chance that noone would. GO TIGERS! GO DABO! IM PROUD OF YOU BOTH

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What do you make of some of the recruiting misses

Jan 2, 2013, 3:17 PM

this season? Seems like we have had some high profile defections...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't get too upset but I'll neither attack nor welcome you.

Jan 2, 2013, 3:21 PM

You're behind Dabo today. Whoop-dee-doo. What's that worth after one of the best Clemson wins in recent history? How hard is that to support? What happens if we drop a few early next year?

It's hard to take it, but I'll point the man for owning up.

Jan 2, 2013, 3:27 PM

But I'll remember if he turns his back again if we lose to Georgia.

have a similar change of heart. Tommy Bowden had a similar event against UT, and we over-reacted to that and gave him a huge buyout. I hope the new Administration is smarter than that.
