Recruiting

Just a reminder to those bashing these kids that aren't 4 or 5 stars. Goodson was a 3 star and had offers from us and Coastal Carolina. It's all about scouting potential. Our coaches have proven they can coach up these players, just look at the progress Dodd made. We can't expect every player to come in and contribute right away. I like that was search out these diamonds in the rough and polish them up real nice like. I know there will be some swing and misses, but that happens even with 5 star guys. Let the coaches do their job.

Anyone know how Norman (Carolina Panthers) was rated when he went to Coastal Carolina? He is considered one of the best in the NFL now

I do know he walked on at Coastal Carolina in 2008. I imagine he was considered "starless". Ranked #1 at his position in the NFL now. That can't be can it? An un-ranked player that succeeds? Must be a mistake!! There can't be a star player that wasn't highly ranked!!

Not 100 percent sure on this but I've read he didn't have the grades out of high school .He attended Horry Georgetown Tech for a year before walking on at CC. Think uga also offered him as a preferred walk-on.

In any case he had no scholarship offer out of high school. I'm sure the SEC's finest would have found a way to qualify him if he was highly ranked.

You should look things up before you write them

Jarrett wasn't a 2 star, he was a 3 star and was only that low because he was considered too small to play DT in college.
Plenty of 2 star guys do eventually make it to the NFL though. In 2014, 71 2 star or unrated guys were drafted. Of course, that was out of the 2,434 2 star or unrated recruits from the 2010 signing class.

Sometimes you need players like these. You never know what these young men are capable of when challenged and have an opportunity to develope. Also, I would imagine that the staff knows better than you. Not a bash, just saying.

Our recruiting is at a all time high and we are telling high caliber kids no, but we make room for this kid? Makes no sense with how our program is trending. You have recruits calling clemson.

It's one thing if your program is struggling and it's woes

can be tied directly to a roster full of 2-stars. That's a sure sign that your recruiting has been a failure. On the other hand, if you have roster full of 4 and 5-stars, just played for the national championship, have a history of developing 2 and 3-stars into NFL players, it means you know what you're doing. Why is that hard for anyone to understand?
