about the other school.
I am tired of the vitriol spewed towards each other. Is that helpful? In ANY way?
Exactly.
I have tried to be a calming influence on here and have tried to bring folks together, especially the UGA and Clemson people. I have been met with tepid support. At best. That disappoints me.
Look, I’ll take the lead here. With what I do in the Weightroom and on the golf course, people truly are in awe of me. I’ve lived life and know what it means to be completely naked so to speak. Rare. No one can possibly understand the depths of my mind, but I don’t brag about it and what you see is what you get.
So, again, I want to try to bring some sense of civility to the UGA and Clemson rivalry. I propose we each list 2 positive things about the other school. And, I will be very disappointed if anyone uses this for anything other than the stated purpose.
I don’t mind working without a net and I’ll start
1) Clemson is salt of the earth. Not the professors or administrators, BUT THE CLEMSON PEOPLE. I like the people. Blue collar. Conservative. Kind. Smart. Down to earth. As a whole, I much more gravitate and enjoy being around Clemson people as opposed to the the arrogance UGA now has. Downtown Athens is a traveling freak show that I do not recognize today. I think I’m banned from any UGA classroom after all my confrontations with the liberal professors. I. Like. The. Clemson. PEOPLE.
2) Clemson football is ELITE. What the Tigers have done in the last 7 years is mind boggling. Do I think the schedule has greatly made this possible? IT DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE IT IS WHAT IT IS. Look at the trophy case. Look at the score board. It is what it is and Clemson is the envy of the college football world now. Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or lying.

The Mad Hatter had a stage then a dance floor then large high tables. Big (long) place but real intimate. I saw them several times before they “made it”.
Side story. We went to Athens one time to see a band (I don’t remember who) and one of our road warriors passed out before we got there. We put him under a bush, went and enjoyed the show and picked him up from under the bush on the way out.

I don't know what two nice things I can say about UGA but give me time. However, to take a step in the right direction I will say two nice things about you.
1. I agree with your Statement No. 1 about the Clemson people - most of them are VERY nice. This shows that you are obviously a good judge of people.
2. I agree with your Statement No. 2 about the Clemson football - Clemson football is ELITE - what we have accomplished in the last decade is beyond my wildest dreams. This implies that you are very good in recognizing elite football teams when you see them.

1. Herschel Walker was an exciting player to watch - especially in college

it's highly likely that I'm much stronger than you. Not claiming I'm the strongest person or a bad ###, but I am much stronger than the average American male. I was skinny as a youth, and when I see people from my youth that haven't seen me in years they are surprised by how much muscle I have added over the years. So highly unlikely you could do anything to me if challenged me. Most likely I would just shove you to the ground and tell you take your loss like a man without even punching you.

1. When I was at Clemson I went out with a Georgia girl a few times and she was an absolute knockout and the definition of southern womanhood. Some great women there for sure

No. It's OK to hate UGA, UGA alumni, and UGA fans. I went to games in Athens in 1977, 78, 80, 82, 84, 86, and 91. I lived in Atlanta for 10 years and got sick of hearing the phrase "the University".
Those people hate Clemson for good reason and that will not change, nor should it. We have won 3 NCs since 1980 and, especially since the series is 7-11-1 since 1977, we need to shove that in their face with a hobnail boot every chance we get.
So to hell with those people. To hell with Vince Dooley, Buck Belue, Herschel Walker, Scott Woerner, Terry Hoage, Larry Munson, Kevin Butler, Ray Goff, Mark Richt, David Greene, and Todd Gurley.
But Athens is a cooler town with better bands.

1. UGA has a very impressive campus police department. You would think it would be hard to catch and arrest all those fast and muscular football players during the offseason, but they always go above and beyond!
2. UGA lost to the coots AT HOME a couple of years ago, and I haven’t laughed that hard in years. Thanks! It really felt great!!!

Here's mine -
1. Clemson and UGA played some of the best college
games i've seen in the 80s like the '80 game CU won
almost every stat except the score, the '83 game
that ended in a tie with both teams trying FGs near
midfield at the end, the '84 game that Lewis Grizzard
described as a religious experience, the '86 game with
the Treadwell FG and a rare win in Athens, and the '87
game with the late safety and FG for the Tiger win.
2. I have worked with some interesting, objective
UGA fans over the years and enjoyed talking some
football and other stuff with them.

I don't come to "correct" you, for what it's worth. I'll always respond to any question, if that helps.
But mostly there's this PESSIMISM & disrespect for other programs I don't understand. The worst-case scenario stuff, I'll listen to it & respect it, but I never tease or name-call. Never.
I think it's human nature to take things like Clemson's current status & success for granted, but for me, & the more I work with CU, the more I can't escape how good we have it here & now, that's all. I've traveled to games at universities all over the country & Clemson is uniquely different.
As for the respect part, that's one of Coach Swinney's most consistent messages. What can I say? I listen to it. I've met people from SC State to LSU, from Charlotte to Oklahoma & everything in between & it has greatly affected my love of the game & the people who are just as rabid for it as we are. UGA, for example, is an absolute threat; there's just no way around it from a fundamentals standpoint. I've still always & only said Clemson will win, though. I don't think anyone would argue our culture hasn't changed with the success, especially when it comes to respect, but it's like we haven't gotten used to it yet or fear it will vanish in a flash.
We are in a golden age of the sport & Clemson is leading, not following. How Clemson represents us matters to me, and how I represent Clemson back is just as important, & I can't stand to see so many other Clemson fans feel so low about so much. I'm no optimist, but yeah, I struggle to keep my mouth shut sometimes & hope it helps people enjoy this golden age more, always.

My sisters went to a Clemson/UGa game in Athens in 2014

While walking to their seats two adult drunk UGA fans each grabbed my sisters small orange Clemson pompoms. The UGA idiots broke the sticks that the pompoms were attached to, and slapped my sisters in the face with the sticks and pompoms. This was done 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
At the 2013 Clemson/UGA game at Death Valley my tickets were on the 50 yard line, and a drunk UGA couple came to our row and began arguing that we were in their seats. We were sitting in a row with 10 season ticket holders. The couple refused to leave and the drunk UGA 30+ year old punched the 70 year old Clemson alum who paid for the 10 season tickets. Thankfully, the drunk couple was escorted out of the stadium.
These two experiences are very common at Clemson/UGA games. I will say that Alabama fans have been much more cordial in the playoff games. Our CFP victory over Bama in Tampa in January 2017 the Bama fans were very cordial. The same Bama respect was there when we beat Bama 44-16 in the January 2019 CFP title game. That loss is Bama's worst loss since Saban arrived on campus

1) Lewis Grizzard managed to overcome his association with the University of Georgia to become, along with his friend and boyhood idol, Wayman C. Wannamaker Junior, great Americans.
2) Statesboro Blues by the Allman Brothers was a great song featuring a town in Georgia.

I lived in Athens the summer after I graduated, and I must say, the girls there are much better in Bed than Clemson girls, no joke. They let me do things I had never even heard of before.

1. UGA has one of the nicest away stadiums I’ve been to. Saw DW play his first game as a freshman between the hedges.
2. Some of the finest deer hunting in the Southeast is only thirty minutes from Athens!

Can anyone else on here say they are lifting now?
If folks are working then I will not count them because a job would frown upon lifting so I understand. But, for people who are not working I wonder if anyone else is lifting or possibly doing crunches or even out on a run?

1. UGA is so much easier to get into & out of. Game days in Clemson start on the highway in stopped traffic for me (& I try to get to Shotgun Alley by 8 AM for most games).
2. UGA has a cultural identity. Not all programs do. The identity at UGA may include 80's hair-metal hooting and hollering & some of the worst language I've ever heard in person, but it's so consistent it's worth being happy with.
Extra credit: Not gonna lie, but red/white/black looks good on anybody. Those were my high school colors so maybe it's subliminal, but still.
