Most of us have lived through some "lean years"

Feb 1, 2016, 6:51 AM

In football and that has conditioned me to fear the worst when things are going the best. However, this past season showed me that we can win everything even while not playing our best. Since #4 has donned the Paw, I believe, really believe all things are possible but I'll go a step further and say we have firmly established a "culture of winning" that will continue after #4 has gone on to wow the pro ranks. Anything can happen on Wednesday but those young men that have already enrolled or are already committed to be Tigers are enough to continue the greatness. While Mullen, Gary etc. are fantastic athletes as well as awesome young men and we'd be thrilled for them to wear the Paw, this "Tiger Train" is well on its way to steam rolling for years to come. I don't see much to stop us if we just keep doing the ordinary things in an extraordinary way. Go Tigers!

With our Head Coach. Dabo has done a remarkable job since taking over. He is a players coach who demands excellence on and off the field. There is not a coach out there that I would trade him for, including Saban. He's building his program HIS way from notes and lessons he has learned along his journey. His leadership has proven to graduate players and build men out of young boys who need guidance.

I remember times that seem long ago where I would read in

the newspaper a list of top 25 recruits in the country and beside each name was the list of schools the young man was considering.

I would hope and pray as I read down the list to PLEASE let me see Clemson mentioned as a possibility at least once or twice. It rarely happened.

Now - I look at the top 10 and if I don't see Clemson, I wonder - What's wrong with this guy ?

Amazing what our coach & staff have done. Amazing.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I share this sentiment exactly! Lol. Nowadays I'm like, "who wouldn't go to Clemson?"

But I can still remember the Tommy West era when I first came to Clemson and for a long stretch into the 2000s where we'd celebrate just getting a few four-star recruits on NSD. Fast forward to 2016 and I'm reading about the possibility of having several 5-star athletes on the team and sixteen 4-star recruits on campus taking their officials at the same time!? And we have recruiting jets with tiger paws on them?? We sure have come a long way man... Feels great to see the progress and successes we have had.

I think Dabo said it best "The best is yet to come."***
