Longest distance you have ever ridden a bike or run? In the

Jun 15, 2022, 3:29 PM

Summer of 1978, one of my Clemson roommates and I rode our bikes from Edgefield to Beaufort in 2 days. The first day, we made it to Hampton where my roommate was from, 91.6 miles. The second day was only 45.2 miles for a total of 136.8. It's weird but I remember almost passing out the 2nd day but felt fine the first day. One plus going that way is you're going from the hilly CSRA to the lowcountry so there is more downhill riding.

I ride my cryptobike one jizzabillion miles every day. I run in cryptomarathons every weekend. A cryptomarathon is eleventeen jizzabillion miles long.

without stopping?

Jun 15, 2022, 4:22 PM

I suppose whatever we had to run at football practice, a mile, mile and 1/2? I never really saw the point in running much. Sprinting, yeah, that's useful in emergencies. Maybe 500 yards or so. But running/jogging? Nah, that's what wheeled vehicles are for, conveying you to/from places of significant distance.

On a bike, I used to ride a bike everywhere when I was a kid. I rode to the swimming pool, baseball practice and games, to friends houses, out to the farm, to the record store, to work, anywhere I needed to, my main mode of transportation. I never kept mileages though. Hundreds of miles per year. After I turned 15, I became motorized and literally didn't get on another bicycle for 30 years. But I now own a mountain bike, which I enjoy ride on dirt trails only, no pavement. I don't keep mileage, so no clue what longest would be.

Jun 15, 2022, 4:31 PM

years ago, about 63 miles between 7pm and midnight, 10 miles around 2am, and rest the next morning. Closed loop route, plenty of food and drink, it was a good time.

I'll never road ride again except on a closed course, too many chances to die. Of course, I don't even ride my Peloton right now - axe throwing takes up my time now, much nicer to stand in one place and drink...

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've actually run farther than I think I've ever biked

Jun 15, 2022, 4:32 PM

Longest run was in serious "I want to PR my half-marathon" training and hit 17 miles as the longest pre-race run. Ended up running a 1:32:something. I missed my 90 minute goal, but PR'ed by almost 2 minutes.

I think the longest I've biked at any one time has been in the 12-13 mile range.

When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

it wasn't legit continuous, but ALMOST continuous
