More than 3,100 students benefitted....

Oct 23, 2014, 8:17 AM

from UNC's shadow classes that were originally designed for the sole purpose of keeping academically-challenged student-athletes eligible to play.

About 47% of them were athletes. Half (729) were football players and 12% (175) were men's basketball players.

University Chancellor Carol Folt said no current coach was involved. Although most of the men's basketball players who enrolled in the classes did so since coach Roy Williams arrived in 2003.

Oversight of their academic progress was left to two of his assistants. Ten of the 15 players on the 2005 team, when the Tar Heels won a national championship, were African and Afro-American Studies majors.

To even remotely suggest that Roy WIlliams was unaware of this is a bigger sham than the no-show/no-work classes themselves.

Every school has their GIMME classes, but UNCheat

stole the book on this one. They set it up as a major that their athletes got a degree in.LOL

I would think it would be a huge advantage if you did not

Oct 23, 2014, 8:24 AM

have to spend any of your time on going to class or doing home work for said classes, and you could instead spend that time on watching game film or shooting extra foul shots on your own time. Or, it may be a huge advantage if you had a Thursday night game in Miami, and could sleep in Friday morning to rest up for your 11:00 am practice session to get ready for your Sunday, noon, game against Duke.

Exactly. Every step has this process has been UNC trying

Oct 23, 2014, 8:21 AM

to figure out how much they have to give up and still protect certain things. Admittedly, this is a big leap from previous "confessions", but they still are trying to protect certain components of their athletic department. They don't want to have to fire Roy. And this is why they will continue to be mocked by anyone paying attention. Not an ounce of character in that institution. It's all "what they can get away with."

How to tell when UNC leaders are kying--- their lips are moving.

These bozos have lied for years now they have zero credibility. None.

I work with a couple of UNCheat alums.....

Oct 23, 2014, 8:30 AM

and they all refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing and chalk it up to nothing more than a baseless witch hunt propagated by NC State alums/fans.

Even during the investigation employees were trying to put a positive spin on it;

"The collusion about the grades was to help a student cross the finish line to graduation, not maintain eligibility."

"Faculty committee members at the time complained to each other in e-mails about Boxill’s request to supress information for fear of futher NCAA sanctions but later they backed Boxill and said they did not view her requests as an attempt to suppress information to protect athletics."

Wow....just wow !!!

Is anyone surprised that the internal investigation by UNCheat and the NCAA failed to uncover even a fraction of what the independent investigation revelaed.

No wonder Swofford has been so heavily involved with UNCHeat and its NCAA investigation. This all started while Swofford was UNCheat's Athletic Director.

Tar Hole alums as well. One came in today in a Clemson orange colored shirt. I asked if they finally saw the error of their ways. The response was an awkward smile and a walk into their room. No words.

3100 is a low end estimate:

"the reports estimates at least 3100 students took the paper classes, but adds the number 'very like falls far short of the true number'."

Plausible deniability to the extreme.***

Not letting me edit on the mobile site

But they fired Butch Davis because his players were involved with this scandal it's only right that Roy is fired as well

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

The difference is.....

Oct 23, 2014, 9:29 AM

Butch Davis was honest and admitted that he knew about the shadow classes. Roy has denied having any knowledge of them which is a total and complete lie IMO. Heck...fifteen of the twenty members of his National Championship team were Afro American Studies majors.
