I don't get the sense that Neon is pushing

kids out so much as he is trying to manipulate them. If he thinks they should leave, he should be honest with them, one on one. There is only so much a kid can actually evolve in a 7 month window.

It's the new world of college football. I don't like it and think Neon is a really good mascot for it.

You didn't read any of the articles, did you?

He cut players including some who appeared to be doing well.

What part of my response did you not understand?

Apr 27, 2023, 6:38 PM

At no point did I agree with his approach, 😂

Maybe you don't comprehend since you are assuming I'm talking about his initial speech telling players to transfer when he arrived. That's not what this thread is about...

You said he wasn’t pushing them out . Smdh .. he had the assistant coaches tell them they were cut .

Besides the fact I called you out previously, are you

so devoid of objectivity you can't read what I wrote in chorus with the OP?

Off subject (your BS), he told the whole team to their faces that they better get in the portal.

I addressed the kids currently on the roster (based on the OP's thread) Neon should, "address those kids face to face" if he has no intentions of keeping them. Aka, disagree with his tactics of late.

Be lessalittlebitchboy and go get you shine box.

HTH.

I think he is being honest with them, or at least from many of the reports. He is telling them that they need to go.

If a kid enters the portal then the university is free and clear. But if the kid doesn't enter the portal the University has to honor the scholarship (most P5 FB scholarships are 4yr guaranteed).

With the university's backing to honor the scholarship, a new HS can essentially cut them from the team and not have that scholarship count against the 85 limit. But that (former) player can't participate. He becomes joe student, and finishes up.

The staff can also be honest and tell them that they aren't good enough or whatever and essentially run them off. Those kids can safely assume that the staff means it and that won't get coaching in practice, won't get the reps, get nitpicked etc. While sitting through speeches about "dedication", "team" etc. BUT they still count agains the scholarship cap until they quit.

Deion and what is going on at CU is the epitome of the worst of big time college football, IMHO.

Ok. You take over as manager of a company that is in total failure. You leave everything intact or clean house?

Honestly, everybody wants to be "5 star U".

Deion decided to really test the system and see if it's actually possible.

The criticism doesn't make any sense. Coaches are under so much pressure to win immediately. Colorado went 1-11 and they had a terrible roster. Flipping the roster through the transfer portal is the only way they can begin to show immediate improvement. It's not like he can make them instantly better through recruiting because it takes time. He has to find a way to convince kids from Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California to go into the Rocky Mountains and play in cold weather.

He's forcing out mostly bad players that don't fit his culture. I just don't see the problem with that the way college football is structured today.

The problem is not a moral one. It's a practical one. He's simply not as good of a coach as he thinks he is. He's not going to get all the 5 star recruits that he thinks he is, and he's going to end up short handed.

I disagree. He got Travis Hunter to come to Jackson State. He flipped Cormani McClain from Miami. He’s going to sign more 5 stars. Especially as he brings in more NIL money/opportunities.

That was before he decided to leave a school after what 3 years? and then come in and look like an #######, getting those kids again is gonna be hard as parents won't want their kids to play for him, and the parents that do, those kids probably are all about themselves vs making a winning team.

He is going to have a hard time recruiting if they suck again next year. Very very hard.

Why Turmoil and excessive Deion Criticism though?

I tend to agree with you on this.

Leaving "EMOTIONS OUT" and just looking at how schools will fire an ineffective HC "Quick" what else do people want.

If he doesn't do it; he losses. He's doing it and "he losses"!

I think he is shooting his shot now; these schools don't give you time to "work through the fluff" on the roster! They want to win "yesterday"!

Follow the money!

Note: I am not saying, "it's right". Or that, "I co-sign the exact way he is going about it"! But, I don't see the reason people have gotten in such a tizzy over it either!
Especially as you said, "in today's college football landscape"! $$$$$$$$

It is not that cold in CO for much of the football season. It is actually quite nice weather to play in most of the season.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Call it turmoil if you want. I call it change.

Apr 27, 2023, 6:43 PM

Please please trust me on this, Sanders will dramatically improve Colorado. Playoffs and all that, not now but maybe later. But immediate improvement? Bet me.

The guy is a world class jerk. Always has been. I get you are cutting players, but be nice and humble about it.

I disagree that he will be successful at CO. Some degree possibly, but this is not a good look for recruiting. Would you rather play for someone like Dabo or this tool?
