Monte has class

Jun 3, 2022, 10:50 AM

Seems Monte has handled his firing with class. He understands the results under his leadership were not adequate to meet the expectations of our program. He is disappointed but respectful. Makes me sad that he was not able to win more games. I think his future is still bright

Yep. I have always like him. Just too bad he could get the W/L results. Good luck to him!

Agree, but don’t forget he’s in need of finding a new job. Running down the school that just fired you is not a good lead in for your upcoming interviews. He’s got class and also smart enough to understand how to manage/read the room.

factor for leaving with class too. I doubt that had as much to do with his behavior, but is a factor nonetheless.

I would think their admin would reach out to Monte to gauge his interest.

I agree, he has handled it with class.

He represented our program well, and like you, I regret that he couldn't win more games here.

I still think the scholarship limit/endowment issue needs to be addressed if we want to be in the conversation for Super Regionals and the College World Series. If other schools are using endowments to give scholarships to players beyond the NCAA specified limit, that's creating a very uneven playing field.

Expecting Monte or anyone else to overcome that with any sort of consistency is unfair.

Spot on. Monte may have been loyal to a fault in not relieving See after the 19 season.

Clemson Baseball has to win. All parties understand that from the outset.

Agree! Coach Lee had ample opportunity to prove he was what we needed to move us to the next level. He failed to do that, and was too mule headed to change his style of coaching. We all know his greatest success was with Coach Leggette's players. He was successful in bringing in a few quality players; however he could not bring in a full supporting cast to surround them.

It's time to forget him. He does not deserve the accolades being being bestowed him. The damage done to Clemson baseball will take years to overcome. Hopefully we can bring in someone willing to do the hard work needed. JMO

I wish him well. If my memory serves me, when Lee first came to Clemson he was more of a small ball coach and progressed to more power at the end. In the process, IMO, he lost track of the importance of having more pitching than power hitters. Whatever anyone says about this year, the Tigers had a .298 team batting average with runners in scoring position which is top notch. The problem is the pitching gave up too many runs. When your ACE has a 4.48 ERA, it doesn't bode well.
