Money Back from Ford for Explorer Timing Job
Apr 26, 2021, 10:35 AM
|
|
So a while back I told you all about dropping $4800 on my wife's explorer.... to get the timing redone and the water pump... remember that (a refresher: https://www.tigernet.com/clemson/forum/thread/complaints-2062844)
So after using my POP, Powers of persuasion, I was able to get $1700 back from Ford.
$1700 is half of the warranty rate for the work... I would have like to get more, but heck, that's an extra big of money in my pocket.... and they could have told me to go pound sand.

700K+ miles driven. Been through three of them.
Haven't spent that much repairing them, combined. And not the $4,800, but the total with your refund from Ford.

as opposed to the luxurious driving of a Ford Explorer. And 700K miles would require about 7 Ford Explorers, they're good for about 100K miles.
7, the answer is always 7.

Dealing with the ford 1-800 folks

was awesome, tbh.
I described the situation, told her that it seemed really crappy to have to fork out that money on the repair. She agreed, asked that I send her the details in an email, and said that they would help.
All she needed was the dealership to send her some part numbers. That part took a month. I got involved, and ended up sending a bunch of nasty-gram emails to the entire management team at the dealership, threatening to come up there and stand on somebody's desk until I got satisfaction. I started with the service assistant manager, the service manager, the service director, the customer service manager (who's a fox, btw), the dealership manager... Each time, I would CC the subordinates on the email and say that each of them (named by name) was blowing me off. I was also CC'ing the ford customer service rep on the email. Finally as I was on my way to the dealership in my jorts and undershirt, ready to kick some ace, the cute chick called me and said that the emails had been sent to ford corporate.
As soon as ford corporate got their emailed info from the dealership, the money hit my account within 24 hours.

simply to their dealers. I've had a bad experience with two of them, enough that I had to knock Ford completely out of my life.
An F-150 is probably exactly the truck I need, but I'll never own one, even if it was given to me.
