Monday Retrospective

Sep 27, 2021, 9:54 AM

A coworker asked me this morning if I had a good weekend. "It was ok," I said. "Pretty lousy game, Saturday," they replied. Yes, I told them, and that didn't help, but that wasn't really why it wasn't a good weekend. I've been battling an upper respiratory infection and haven't been able to get out and do the things I enjoy doing on the weekends, am dealing with two difficult teenagers, have a legal thing coming up in a couple of weeks that I've been preparing for, and just general adulting things that have to be dealt with but are far from enjoyable.

No, Clemson losing a football game was not the reason for a lousy weekend. It didn't help it, but I'm a fan of Clemson University first and foremost over any one sport. I'm always proud of the university, it's history, and my time there. The quality of the university will supersede any football, basketball or baseball season, even though it's great when any of our sports teams do well. I have zero influence on the sports teams. I'll wear my orange and my class ring win or lose, though winning is far more fun! I understand that the athletes on this team are 18-22 year old kids, many of whom have their own issues. They are fallible, the coaches are fallible, and there are many variables that play into the outcome of any one game. None of which are influenced at all by me.

From what I understand, the problems that this team is facing are not going to be easy fixes, especially with the injuries we're racking up. But whether we end the day with a W or an L really doesn't impact how my weekend is seen. I'm just happy that my bad days don't end up on the front page of ESPN.com or SI.com or whatever, and there's no one nitpicking my every move on sports radio, message boards and social media!

Bad days are bad days. Bad weekends are bad weekends. And bad games are just that - bad games. Games. Winning is great, and losing sucks, but no matter what, I'm always 100% proud to be a Clemson University Tiger!

If you haven't already, schedule an online telephone appt ($90) with doctors who will prescribe you the correct medicine for you upper respiratory infection. The hospitals are being paid to "not" provide this.

Interesting, and thank you! My dr did give me some medicine, and it's almost knocked it out now, but I still needed to take it easy and couldn't do my Saturday morning long run like I usually do, which was a bummer.
