New Story: Summer breakdown: Gallman will be difficult to replace

Summer breakdown: Gallman will be difficult to replace

Wayne Gallman didn't show a lot of flash, but he was tough between the tackles and got the yards he needed to by lowering his shoulder and bulldozing forward. Replacing Gallman will be a tough task. Who will fill Gallman's shoes? Full Story »

I am going to miss Gallman. I remember years ago when he was unknown to us fans that Swinney described him as a violent runner. That turned out to be an accurate description and very fitting for a guy that also played LB at Grayson. When he committed to us I don't think any of us realized what we were getting. I know I didn't. I have seen a lot of backs come through here. I remember Allen, Preister, Davis and Spiller. While my memory is faded I don't know if I remember any of them with more fight. Wayne was fun to watch because of his heart, refusal to be tackled and love for contact. I believe he will earn a roster spot in the NFL.

Our RB situation is like a horse race with some great steeds busting out of the starting gates chased by little known racers. The winner is yet unknown but there are leaders sure to be there at the finish. Who's in Your tri-fecta ? Fuller, Feaster, Choice?

I mostly agree but IMO someone will become the main goal to guy.

Lol, thanks David. Yes, goal to guy is when you're near the goal line and you need six desperately. Give it to the Goal to guy! ??

I'll always remember WG for his effort when blocking. Time after time there'd be somebody with the ball and WG, who I thought was on the other side of the play, would come flying out of nowhere making a block! But best of luck for all our Tiger backs! Several listed have already made huge contributions on special teams.

Model of Consistency and a TEAM Player

Jul 11, 2017, 8:40 AM

The Grayson product blossomed into a tremendous teammate, player and man at Clemson. He did everything a coach could ask for and more. I will remember his blocking and ability to hold on to the football as his strengths, but he did not have any glaring weaknesses (consistency). He made to most with in God Given ability. He set and raised the bar for our expectations of a hard nosed running back here at Clemson.

Oh and he is a GIANT of a person as well.

Gallman was a work horse but I think thenbacksnwe got nowncan be very good. I think fuller and Fiester will share carries but I see Fiester really getting into his own this year and seeing the field a lot more. He looked good during spring game ran less timid which I think he just needed a year to develop as a all around back bc in high school they used him in the passing game more than pass protection and he had to learn that. What I love about Dabo just bc your 5 star don't mean you going to play day one you got to earn it and be ready some are some aren't. Fiester I think will be this year!

And let's not forget Kelly Bryant. He's an excellent runner who will contribute to the ground game.
