Commitment

May 24, 2013, 12:14 PM

MP, not sure what God you report to, but mine puts honesty, commitment and trust ahead of universities, teams, money and winning. Commitment. For a true Christian, it has no buts, ifs or compromises. I'm sad to see you think it should, simply because a kid has "leverage." Matthew 5:37 says, "Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil."

If Dabo tells them "no visits or we back off," then he should stick to it. Otherwise, he simply shouldn't say it in the first place.

Dabo's position

May 24, 2013, 1:32 PM

I think he has learned you can't put elite players in a box for 5-8 months; just too much pressure from outside sources.

I think he is changing gears on this by addressing the concept of an Early Signing Period. I believe he presented his Early Signing Period concept to the ACC coaches recently and got positive response.

I think he knows he's on the uphill side of this with the "commitment" deal and needs to modify his stance on elite players. Otherwise, you're likely not to sign many. You can play the "your word is your bond" stance but you'll end up with mostly 3 star kids, 6-8 win seasons and a fanbase calling for your head.

Re: Dabo's position

This will also happen after Chad Morris make jump to head coach somewhere, like before Chad Morris here.

Dabo unproven until wins without running show on offense.

We saw what 10-15 years of good recruiting does when don't have someone to be tough on kids and execute. Tommy showed his true cards when Rodriguez gone. Dabo has not shown true success without Chad.

His record vs SC brutal and 70 point Orange Bowl drubbing only made easier thanks to a hail mary 4th and 10 completion that propelled us to victory last year.
Verdict is still out. He sets goals to win conference, win ACC tittle game, win bowl game and beat SC. Very few of those goals are accomplished.

Right direction but lets turn the corner. Too much talent on team and coach staff to not win vs our lame league and other teams from other conferences.

I think anything less than accomplishing Dabo's main goals with exception of national champ a failure.

Without Chad we will start hearing the 2-3 years away line and rebuilding with T Boyd. T-Boyd would have been mediocre with Chad Morris. Kudos to Dabs for making the right hire but still so much to prove as on field success riding coattails of Morris.
