I was listening to WCCP this morning, and for some reason, it wasn't Mickey Plyler. The host was talking about Miami football and NIL. Apparently, they recently got a commitment from a FOUR star QB. This QB had turned down an $11 million NIL agreement from another school to accept a $9 million agreement from Miami. I know that Miami has a millionaire booster that loves their football, but this is ridiculous! About an hour after I heard this, I suddenly remembered that, former Tiger, Dan Radakovich was now their Athletic Director. He has got to be smiling. I realize that Miami is not paying the money, but when a FOUR star high school QB is being paid that kind of money before he even takes a snap in college football, the system is broken TO ME.
And, if a 4 star QB, that I have never heard of, is getting that kind of money, what COULD Arch Manning's deal be worth? We are living in crazy times for college football!

Well, unless anyone has confirmation, I don't think NIL deals are like guaranteed contracts.
The deal is probably incentive based and largely contingent on the QB starting.
Like from what I read about the Ewers NIL deal, it was mainly contingent on him starting which led to him transferring when Stroud started to own the QB spot because that meant he was probably sitting bearing a catastrophe.
I'm sure there is a base amount or signing bonus the athletes get with these mega deals I highly doubt they are getting 7 figures of GUARANTEED money wired into their accounts prior to on the field success.
Still, imagine having 5-6 figures in the bank as a college student with free room and board and tuition because of the scholarship as a CFB player.
I definitely wish I could've had that privilege

Since by rules NIL can't be used as recruiting inducements how did the QB know what the NIL at either school would be...hmmmm?

would continue to be largely middling programs for the foreseeable future.
Nothing like buying a seat at the table among college football's elite.

Don’t believe everything you read. Especially quotes from a Lawyer. Everything they say has an agenda for them or their clients. These figures that are being thrown around are not completely accurate. Truth is somewhere in the middle.

There is a performance level in some of these NIL deals. Dr. Pepper dropped our QB's NIL deal because of lack of performance. It was written in their contract. Unfortunately for them, Bojangles did not have that clause in their contract with him and they had to continue to pay him even though his performance was not good.
