Met a Georgia fan tonight.

Not obnoxious. Just could sense the SEC pride when mentioning Cemson's defense and how you can't say they had a good defense when they go up against ACC teams. He mentioned Clowney and how just that one guy can make a huge difference. I told him that I heard someone say that if Clemson had added just him to our D in 2012 we may have gone undefeated. He laughed and said that Clemson's defense was too bad for Clowney to help. My argument was that it progressively got better and ended up showing up in the LSU game. Never would give much credit to us for beating LSU. I brought up the stat I heard that the SEC had only 7 OOC losses in the last 2 years and that 3 of them were to Clemson. He just sort of grinned.
Thoughts on the upcoming game? He said a shoot out. He said that Clemson had a high powered offense and that UGA has a very high powered offense. I told him that Clemson' secondary had to show up and that our elite LB's could be the answer for their RBs. I then tried to move on to another subject.

I believe our D will be much better. We had a lot of game changing guys out for the season in our secondary last year early. We have a good talented group (young yes, but talented) to give us depth in our secondary, that will give BV the opportunity to turn our LBs lose and make plays stopping the run and putting pressure on QBs. I can just see our D being much improved this year.

Other than a few descent games, we have been

horrible on defense the last few years. Examples:: WV, N.C. State, GT, SC,FU,Wofford, etc. Many games we knew what the other team was going to do and couldn't stop it. No physical toughness. We have looked like Scar did for many years when we used to laugh at them. At some point in time you have to do something different in strength training after the comments by other teams and their coaches. You get as much respect as you have earned.

this is truth. We seem to think the LSU game was our true D, but not the D from the game before (SC)where we couldn't get off the field. We take a step forward this year, no doubt. But our "elite" LB's?? Get real. Our LB's scare nobody right now. Talent is there, but they are not elite. There is one particular starter that isn't on the 3 deep at some schools. I like where the D is headed. I really, really like the moxie in that group. Let's hope that 8/31 is their coming out party.

I actually live in Athens and I can tell you, the majority of the puppies believe that our defense is sub par to the sec defenses that they are used to playing against. I mostly hear they will win by 14 to 21 points. I hope the team thinks the same way. I guess I am somewhat lucky that I do not have to listen to the chickens cuckling, but d*#^n I am sick of SEC SEC SEC chant, GO TIGERS!

UGA had more talent last season than 95% of the teams in College Football, but their D was still terrible. They just gave a raise to their DC who I believe is the reason they're so bad. I mean, really. They had Jarvis Jones, Alec Ogletree, and Bacari Rambo at 3 different levels of their defense. All high picks. Now they only return what, 3 or 4 starters on their defense? Clemson should pick em up and put em down all game. The game will come down to mistakes made by one or the other. Fumbles by their young RBs, Erin Murrhey choking, or a big play by the clemson offense will be the demise of the leg humpers.
Clemsons bucket holds the same water. Tajh can't make mistakes in the big game. Sammy is going to have to come out with something to prove. And the run game for the tigers is going to have to be "there" to some extent. Either to keep UGAys d honest, or to actually control the game. There is no Nuk to control one side of the field this year.
