Only Myles Murphy needs to be turning pro

Jan 3, 2023, 11:10 AM

Myles was and is a beast coming out of high school. He has been consistent throughout his 3 years here. He has dominated college football offensive lines. I think he will transition well in the NFL. The others it’s a crap shoot.

Davis Allen has the size but does he have the ball skills like the TE from ND? Is going to compete with a veteran TE already in the NFL? Or is going to find a back up roll somewhere?

Jordan McFadden we’ve had offensive line problems all year. Can he be an addition on to an NFL roster? Our offensive line has not been dominant for some time and he has been part of that.

Trenton Simpson great player while at Clemson but can he adjust to the physicality of the NFL. At 230 lbs isn’t he a little lite for an NFL linebacker?

Bryan Bressee has the physical attributes but is he fast enough to adjust to the NFL? He has had injuries as well and his numbers are down because of that. May need more tape? He lost his sister this year so mentally he had a very tough time. The Clemson family has had his back when it matters the most, I think having a coach like Dabo and a staff like Dabo’s would do him even more good for next year. Financially speaking as good as he is there should be a fair amount of money on the table through NIL.

All of these guys are incredible talented players and we were fortunate to have them play their careers at Clemson. I wish them nothing but good luck at the next level but I think they need to listen to other people other than their agents with the exception of Myles Murphy. Your thoughts?

Yes

I see Simpson ending up being used like Simmons is now

As a hybrid LB/DB

And if Bresee tears an acl . . .

Jan 3, 2023, 11:17 AM

Bresee should go. He will likely go high. I’ll miss him but he should go. I doubt Davis Allen’s draft stock would go up much if he stays. Point taken about McFadden but if he wants to try and go pro he might as well do it now. His stock won’t be up much after another year either.

Bresee would not improve his draft stock coming back.

Allen will not improve his draft stock coming back.

Tyler Davis will not improve his draft stock coming back.

Myles Murphy and KJ will not improve their draft stock coming back.

Trenton Simpson will not improve his draft stock coming back.

Jordan McFadden is going to be a guard in the NFL so unless we move him to guard next year, his draft stock would not improve by coming back.

Ruke can improve his draft stock by coming back.

Mascoll can improve his draft stock by coming back.

Ngata will definitely improve his draft stock by coming back, staying healthy and having a viable quarterback throwing him the ball.

Sheridan Jones could improve his draft stock by coming back.

Phillips could improve his draft stock by coming back.

Yep I think you have it about right. It’s all projections of course.

Jan 3, 2023, 11:51 AM

But you seem to have it down. A lot of these kids won’t improve their drafts stock after being here 3,4 years let’s say. Some will. I agree with your assessment on ngata and possibly Sheridan. If ngata balled out next year he could go much higher in the draft.

Ngata is 4-5th rounder right now, maybe. He comes back and has the season that we expected him to have each year since he stepped on campus and I could see him in the 2nd round next year.

Why would Ngata be drafted at all right now?

If we are being honest, he hasn’t done much in college to suggest that he could be a good pro.

I think he needs another year to

A. Prove that he can stay healthy, and

B. Give scouts some film to show that he can be consistently good.

He has measurables and upside. Same things that got him a scholarship to our fine university. I agree that he should come back next year and prove that he can be "THE GUY" and he has a chance to do so with Klubnik as the QB.

Agree on all but KJ

Jan 4, 2023, 11:30 AM [ in reply to Re: Only Myles Murphy needs to be turning pro ]

if he's a day 3 projected pick, upping his sack total next year could definitely enhance his draft status

McFadden could not block UT, how is he going to block

Jan 3, 2023, 11:30 AM

the Patriots?

McFadden has the build of an NFL guard. Would have made a great guard at Clemson if someone else could handled LT, but that was not the case.

Bresee is projected to be a first round pick.

He should absolutely go pro, whether he seems “ready” or not. That’s life changing money even if he isn’t a good pro.

His college career hasn’t been stellar, but he was a big time recruit coming out of high school and his measurables fit what the NFL is looking for.

I think Murphy will be the better pro, but Bresee can be good too.

You’re not accounting for whether a player can improve their flaws or what will knock their draft grade by staying.

McFadden isn’t tall enough to be a tackle and is already 23. It’s now or never for him.

Davis Allen is not going to improve his speed and agility to the point of being a game breaker like a Brock Bowers.

Simpson and Breese will start day 1 imo.
