The intellectual property of Pfizer and Moderna?

Medical information of identifiable people? Can't think of much else.
And you're free to go to Israel, Singapore, Australia, Germany, Sweden, or several dozen other countries and see their data. And honestly I'd take their data over Pfizer, Moderna, or the FDA's data.

I like Israel's data. Especially the one study that found that natural antibodies were more effective than the vaccines.

take a look at this statement in the request:

I'm just gonna guess here....
Nov 18, 2021, 10:28 AM

but a FOIA request for 365,000 pages of documents likely takes an enormous administrative effort to produce, because the agency must go through each page and make sure it's not releasing information it's not allowed to release, etc...
The request for all of that information isn't really a reasonable request IMO.
The FDA came back and said it can release 500 pages per month.
I don't suspect you know any more about the effort required than I do...and I'm just guessing here.
On the face of it, it sounds like a party makes a request for an unreasonable number of documents...gov said they can release about 500 pages per month and then the party screams "WHAT ARE THEY HIDING!"
Perhaps the group making the request could narrow the scope of their request? nah...that's crazy, right? Better to just use it as a talking point for the uninformed.

FDA proposed 500 pages per month....
Nov 18, 2021, 10:38 AM

329,000 / 500 / 12 = 54.8 years
As I said...perhaps the FOIA request needs to be narrowed.

maybe....I'm thinking the exact opposite...
Nov 18, 2021, 1:33 PM
|
|
that the FDA would want all of the subject's info in the data for verification/tracing purposes.
I guess we'll see what the judge says. FDA would have to make a argument to the judge on why 500 pages per month is reasonable.
Again...just guessing here...but I'd be shocked if there wasn't a way for the scope of the request to narrowed and serve the same purpose.

I presume would be a more in depth review of the information to give Phizer the go-ahead, but it will take 55 years to go back through that same data to make sure they can release it? Does that make sense to you?

Yes, I think it COULD make sense....

when reviewing the data, I suspect the data is tabulated and there are some spot QA checks on the tabulation, etc... Again, I'm just guessing here.
Also, when reviewing the data, they don't have to worry about what is proprietary, etc...
I THINK to release all this data, it has to be scrubbed for proprietary data and I'm also guessing HIPPA -related issues. I'm assuming all of the studies have people's names and info on them.
I was involved (very much on the outskirts) in a FOIA issue with some proprietary info that the Government (in this case Dept of Energy) had from my company that was caught up in the request. What I took away from that was that it just isn't as simple as "release the info" that I previously thought it was.

I certainly don't think it's as simple as 'release the data'
Nov 18, 2021, 1:36 PM
[ in reply to Yes, I think it COULD make sense.... ] |

But I don't think it makes any sense whatsoever that they can sift through the data with a fine enough comb to OK the vaccine for millions of people in a matter of months, but it will take 55 years to make sure they don't release any proprietary/HIPPA related information.
If you told me it could take 6 months to a year, maybe even a little more...I'll buy that. 55 years, not so much. I smell some stanky B.S.

Is it in the public interest to devote the same resource...
Nov 18, 2021, 3:03 PM
|
|
to this specific FIOA as to approving a vaccine for a pandemic? I would say no.
But, I'm not suggesting I know if their response is a reasonable one or not....I'm just trying to make the point that the request is for 329,000 pages of data and that the data has be closely examined and because the initial reply was it's going to take a really long time doesn't mean that government is trying to hide something...IMO.
