Maybe the sky is really falling

I understand we've got a small class to recruit for 2016 but we have missed on a lot of recruits lately and seems like we've lost key personnel too. I hope I am wrong but maybe there is something going on underneath the surface in our program. We don't seem to be trending positively lately. Could it be we are becoming a victim of our own success? Is our lower cost of attendance amount hurting us? Whether or not you agree with my concerns, something is wrong and the future of our program is hanging in the balance. When are losing ground everyday to FSU and Miami in the recruiting war, something is very wrong.

What?? How can the sky be falling when we still have the #15 recruiting class? As far as personnel, 3 players made bone head decisions. It is what it is.
Calm down, we will be fine.

Maybe, since this class is a bit smaller, we're concentrating on 5 stars and high 4 stars for this cycle. The big boys don't usually sign until the last minute. I am NOT worried about our recruiting or our depth. The next couple of seasons should prove that we're in fine shape!

Crap like this happens, discipline comes down, and we move on. I also think it's way too early to be looking at 2016 recruiting totals. After the cookout, I think you'll have a better feeling about recruiting.

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH. GUESS PRETTY MUCH HAVING 2016 IN THE BARN IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU. WE ARE PRETTY MUCH DONE WITH 16 AND WORKING ON 17. JUST BECAUSE GUYS HAVE NOT ANNOUNCED DOES NOT MEAN THEY AND THE COACHES KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE GOING. SOME KIDS LIKE TO TAKE A FEW TRIPS BEFORE "OFFICIALLY" COMMITTING. GOOD LORD MAN, IF YOU ARE SKEERT GET A DOG.

What you have is that we are recruiting at such a high level that many of these guys know that they won't see much playing time until they are a sophomore or junior. Many guys don't want to wait.
That is the issue. Look at the guys who have decided not to come. It is positions where we are deep and those guys know they can go other places and play immediately.
It comes with the territory of being on the rise. Everybody wants to play.

The problems we have right now are called big boy problems. The closer we get to the top, the larger the problems will seem. Strap your boots on a little tighter.

Mind if I field this one?,,,, cause I got this...

Please don't study too much into the daily fluctuation of recruiting rankings, rather keep it in perspective to our numbers and needs. Class rankings aren't always a clear indication of how successful a team will be- I can assure you. Ever see Boise State, Kansas State, or Michigan State (consistently) high up in the recruiting rankings? Furthermore, how about Missouri who has won two of the last three SEC East titles? Of course other factors such as JUCO kids, player development, and coaching all factor in but that further proves that recruiting rankings aren't always worth the paper they're printed on.
I see a lot of this "OH NO" stuff in regards to some seeing FSU and Miami being so high up in the ratings. PLEASE don't look into it that far. We're not falling behind anyone but rather we're taking a smaller class and these ridiculous pundits see a large class and seemingly by default but the said teams high up there. This is not necessarily the case.
For starters, name one team that wouldn't want Tavien Feaster as part of their recruiting class? He's the cream of the crop. Clemson is taking one RB in this class and guess what- we went out and got the best in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz5w9Onf-jY Nearly the same could be said for QB prospect Zerrick Cooper who continues to improve almost by the week. For a guy who is coming off a traumatic knee surgery, he could've fooled me- aside from the knee brace. Seems like every camp he goes to he wins MVP or some exceptional accolades rather than folks discussing him being inhibited by his recent injury.
For those who think that our offensive line class is falling behind or lagging- I beg to differ. Clemson commit Sean Pollard is one of the more hidden gems at his position in this class. Pollard is a tremendously talented guy who is getting plenty of respect for his efforts at the camp that was held in Charlotte. Watch his film and you'll see a guy that plays til the whistle and gets down field to continue blocks http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2196811/highlights/217958375/v2 Plus he was verified as being 6'5 and 310 per NIKE Sparq. I'd also look for us to get a commit from talented lineman John Simpson sometime soon. Plus we're still in the mix for Parker Boudreaux, Bryce Mathews, Adam Raschilla, and maybe even EJ Price. And one had best believe we're gonna be going hard after some lineman in this class.
So we're lagging aye? Not at wide receiver. Have you guys seen TJ Chase's film?! My goodness he's got ridiculous skills. His stock rises almost daily and the secret is out on him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk6mqaOtT3E Cornell Powell is also extremely talented and underrated and I'd look for his buddy Diondre Overton to be a Tiger as well. Forget about subjective rankings, show me a better trio of WRs going to one particular school in this class. I'll argue for these three til the cows come home.
Folks it's hard to find a better linebacker than Rahshaun Smith. He's violent upon contact and disengages blocks very well on his way to disrupting the play. I won't even bother showing his footage cause I wouldn't know which one to pick- combine film where he blows away similar talent or his junior year film where he plays like a man among boys. Elite LB Tre Lamar is pretty much down to Auburn or Clemson and I really like our chances. He's listed at 6'4 235 and will press for playing time from day one. In addition to Smith and possibly Lamar, Clemson also has Jamie Skalski coming in. I know, I know- folks look at his ranking and mistake him for a scrub. But he's not. He was injured the majority of last year and therefore his lack of production cost him. I will provide his sophomore film in hopes that you'll note his elite vision for knowing where the ball is going and getting there to disrupt the play.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15Ptf1gSSio (see what I'm saying, his vision and knack for finding the ball is impressive)
If you've followed me this far perhaps you've taken note of some incredible talent headed our way. Where it gets really interesting is that we're in line for a top DL prospect, and there are several we're after. Some of the best out there are considering us. We're not falling behind anyone on the defensive line and I'm sure we'll hit a homerun at DE as well as DB so quit worrying about nothing folks. Cause it's a great time to be a Clemson Tiger!

Excellent perspective. In watching the film the only problem I see Chase having is that his QB kept under throwing him. He's a burner with great hands and will be a 5* by November. It's easy to see why Venables wanted Jamie Skalski, nose for the ball and he sheds blockers like their mosquitoes.

It'll be great by NSD(or as in Clemson's case, early entry day). Several guys got in trouble,it happens , it's how it's been handled that sets Clemson a part. A couple more might fall cause of grades,it happens. The sky is far from falling, it's how things work with a 100 plus elite level guys that have been used to getting their way since middle school.Even the 2 stars and walk on were stars on their HS teams.

Back away from the ledge. A few players leaving isn't the end of the world. I wish nobody messed up and made mistakes but they are college kids and they will mess up. It happens here and it happens everywhere. Things will be fine. It's not like when a guy leaves, his position isn't filled and we play with 10 players on the field. It just means the next guy in line has to step up and fill his shoes. We still have tons of talent and high character young men all over this team. Look at our past few recruiting classes, we have brought in top notch talent. They'll be fine.

Let me see if I can diffuse this bomb:
1) You understand the whole idea of recruiting is a science right? We don't need 25 to 30 players year after year in recruiting classes. Schools that do that do because the athlete is a football player and not there for the educational value of the school. Clemson isn't like that. I mean Artavis Scott, Wayne Gallman, and Deshaun Watson were all 3.0-4.0 students this pass year AND they are great athletes. I just posted that Clemson also does do "house of cards" recruiting anymore. They specify the Clemson Athlete and go after that. Not a star rating. This brings me to....
2) Dabo hired coaches that teach. Did you see how well the Clemson offense faired against Oklahoma in the bowl game? That is because Elliott and Scott know the system from years of tutelage from Chad Morris. And what did coach do? Go out and hire a really good QB coach in Brandon Streeter. In 30 days time, they had a QB that looked bad at times looking like a well-oiled machine, making passes he couldn't make all year. That was a short period. They are getting a whole football offseason to put together a plan for this team.
3) As for "trending positively," out of 95-115 football players, three are no longer on the team. It may have happened in a short period of time and looks can be deceptive. However, we are dealing with a young team (also the reason behind the small recruiting numbers. Athletes stay longer at Clemson because they are students first, athletes second). And amongst those players, three. Ask South Carolina about keeping athletes.
4) We are not losing ground to FSU or Miami. They have to recruit overflow to cover things like freshmen QBs getting into trouble or players leaving early to the NFL. 30 vs. 15 is a big divide. But talent wise, Clemson has shown they have caught up with them.
5) The victim of our own success line is really cumbersome. We have way more to accomplish. We aren't Alabama yet. We haven't won 3 national championships in 5 years yet. We are going to beat Florida St more consistently and win our conference more. We have got more to do before we can be "victims of our own success."
Time to stop fearing the worse and look at the direction we are heading at Clemson! Time for you to become #ALLIN!
