Maryland/College Park Recommendations

Aug 9, 2013, 3:27 PM

Heading up to Maryland for the game in October. Does anybody have any hotel recommendations for in or around College Park? Also, recommendations on the night life in the area?

Watch it on TV.

Nobody will throw beer bottles at you, AA batteries, or one year a small desk top stapler.

By the way, this was on the walk TO the game. The place is , how do i put it, A SHEET HOL

I live in CP- it's not as bad as people make it out to be, IMO. Not much of a college town, but not a ghetto either. If trying to stay in town, I recommend you look at the Holiday Inn or the Hampton Inn. Both are located near the Beltway on US-1 (the main drag in College Park). Not really near campus though, so you'd have to find another way to get to campus for the game. Another option is to stay in DC and take the DC Metro's (subway) Green Line to the College Park station. The station is a good walk to Byrd Stadium, but it is though a residential area and what passes for downtown CP. The Shuttle UM buses also run from the Metro station to campus on game day.

Went there for the last game up there

Maryland was an interesting place to watch the game. The team was doing so bad that year that it was basically a Clemson homegame tailgate in the parking lots before hand. I would suggest going on Ebay or something before hand looking for a parking pass to save on actually trying to park somewhere up there before the game. We got one pretty easily along with the tickets.

The worst thing was though the fans were almost as bad as USuCk fans when visiting. I actually watched them throw food and trash at Clemson fans sitting in the mostly Maryland section I was in. The stadium itself is small so from the upperdeck you can see the field fine. Not a bad place to watch a game as long as you aren't sitting near the unruly fans. But if this year goes right, you should be watching 3rd quarter surrounded by only the Clemson faithful...
