Martavis has gotten pretty big. Check out photo

Feb 18, 2014, 6:10 PM

He's listed at 200 lbs, but he was 207 at "the big weigh in". Based on this picture, he might be a legit 215-220 now.

He was smart to leave when

His name was hot. We have plenty of WR talent to take over. If he didn't have children I would think he should have stayed. But it makes sense. He will do well in the NFL I think.

Personal Decision - not everyone will agree

Feb 19, 2014, 1:47 PM

If it was me, there's no way I would have left with a year of eligibility left. He was just coming into his own as a receiver. With another solid year of work and showing maturity, his draft stock would have really risen and he would be that much closer to his degree. Plus, you can't get your senior year in college back. Once he's gone, he's gone. He can come back and take classes, but it's not the same.

That said, I'm not in his shoes. I didn't have kids when I was in school. I also have no idea about his academic standing. It might be that another year won't move him measurably toward his degree. If we're all honest, none of us has enough information to make decisions that will impact the rest of someone else's life. We also neither reap the benefits or pay the price of those decisions.

Stay - another year of school, another year playing, another year maturing, another year without the pressure that the real world generates (playing college football just isn't the same) - Price - you stay poor like all the other college students, maybe even poorer, you risk injury

Leave - possibility of an NFL paycheck, live the life of an NFL rookie as opposed to the life of a college senior (I'm not sure which one is better. I've been a college senior and I liked it.) - Price - risk that you won't make the team, or won't stick around, it's harder to go back to school than to stay in school, potentially shorter NFL career due to injury because you aren't as physically mature

He's up to 215 right now, and he's a lot more explosive

off the line of scrimmage. This kid is going to skyrocket after the NFL Combine.
