Has anyone here watched "Don't Look Up" on Netflix?

Jan 5, 2022, 11:18 AM

I thought it was excellent. I think the bad reviews are from journalists who don't like the way they're being portrayed.

It was entertaining.***

Cole @ Beach Cole w/ Clemson Hat

I had the confuse watching it at first

Jan 5, 2022, 11:22 AM

thinking it was a serious sci-fi thriller. I wasn't sure if they were trying to be funny until Jonah Hill's character made his appearance. From then on I laughed my ### off.

Is the movie trying to send a message about Covid or global warming or both?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's something in these hills.

It’s a direct metaphor for both, along with sad, satirical

Jan 5, 2022, 12:13 PM

look at the stupidification of America by our whorish media. Year 2000 America would look at 2022 America and tell us we’re dumb AF, and they wouldn’t be wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Network" did that in 1975.

Jan 5, 2022, 3:12 PM

It just didn't anticipate social media.

Yep. And Wag the Dog, whatever year that was.***

Not yet, but once I saw you give it a glowing review it went

Jan 5, 2022, 11:25 AM

on my list. Until then, I'd heard it mentioned a lot but didn't really know what was about. Figured I'd get to it this weekend, hopefully.

Since we're contemporaries,

Jan 5, 2022, 11:33 AM

I'll tell you that I was reminded of "Network" over and over again in its theme.

"Network" was a great movie that a lot of people would benefit from watching today.

"Every man is my superior, in that I may learn something from him."

Network is a brilliant film.

Jan 5, 2022, 11:57 AM

I'm not sure it ever really got the credit that it truly deserved over the long haul.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I really enjoyed it.

Jan 5, 2022, 11:41 AM

After I saw it I checked Rotten Tomatoes out of curiosity and couldn't believe how mixed the reviews were. Dew wreck or mend.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm guessing the rating was so mixed because the message

Jan 5, 2022, 11:46 AM

wasn't even remotely subtle which can rub a lot of people the wrong way. I also think the media is portrayed in a very negative light as well which probably upset some reviewers :)

I really enjoyed the movie

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes. It was good. Reminded me of "Mars Attacks".

Jan 5, 2022, 11:51 AM

Entertaining.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That movie was terrible

Jan 5, 2022, 11:51 AM

just terrible

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

shut your ##### mouth!!! ;-) It was intentially terrible

Jan 5, 2022, 11:58 AM

which made it great

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg2005_majors_champ.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-xtiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

uhhh..what?

Jan 5, 2022, 3:13 PM

That movie had enough excellent actors in it, but yet it wasn'tt even remotely funny.

Its probably #1 or #2 of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Now where is deweather to tell me how wrong I am?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mars Attacks? I remember it being decent

Jan 5, 2022, 4:06 PM

in a verrrrry campy way. I can see why you might hate it though.

I haven't seen "Don't Look Up" yet but I hear it's pretty polarizing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They could have left out Ariana Grande's song

Jan 5, 2022, 11:51 AM

And edited about another 30 minutes from the whole thing.

Overall sorta funny because it picks on everyone

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

this review sounds familiar...and Germanic:

Jan 5, 2022, 2:52 PM

Best part of movie was during the credits to the Meryl Streep character.

That was pretty funny.***

"Every man is my superior, in that I may learn something from him."

I liked it. The thing I didn't like was that

Jan 5, 2022, 3:12 PM

J Law was "dressed down" so to speak for this movie. She was not hot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought that showed some seriousness on her part.

Jan 5, 2022, 3:14 PM

Not going for the glam.

I almost didn't recognize Cate Blanchett.

Re: Has anyone here watched "Don't Look Up" on Netflix?

Jan 5, 2022, 5:57 PM

I have heard people I respect say it is really worth watching, but I also have read the media panning it. That males sense. I will check it out.
