His players play the way he coaches, fearless. Harold Jamison and Tom Widemen were absolute bruisers.

Barnes knew how to get inside their heads and get the most out of each player. He never lost by much as his giys fought hard. Not that I liked him as a person. Brad has a ceiling but Barnes ceiling was much highet

Brad has already hit his head multiple times on his ceiling.

who understands basketball better than I do would explain to me what our problem is. It looks to me like the Tigers play great defense, but our offense is erratic; why do we have these scoring droughts? We'll go several minutes when absolutely nothing drops. Is it sloppy shooting? Sometimes it looks that way to me (but again, I'm coming to this as someone who really doesn't understand the finer points of basketball; football's always been my game. That I understand.)

I can remember when year in and year out, our free-throw shooting was atrocious. That's no longer the case (for the most part; we weren't making critical free throws in that last game, though). But what's with the scoring droughts? We'll have a stretch where the Tigers are shooting out the lights, and then...nothing.

So DO we play good defense?

We are 84th in defensive efficiency for this past season

Simple - if you rely on a lower percentage shot (the three) you will have parts of the game where you don’t make any and hit a drought. I actually thought early on and especially against Duke we had different sets and committed to moving the ball inside and taking shots from the free throw line on in. That’s a great way to avoid scoring droughts and also to get to the free throw line. But then we went out in a few games after that and shot a whole lot of 3s with a lower percentage than the season average. Then I scratched the top of my head like CBB.

It’s totally asinine.

Guys I need you to continue shooting the 3 ball. Coach I’m not feeling it today. That’s ok just keep shooting.

It's poor coaching.

Hope that helps.

Yep that was his strength. Basketball went up a notch while he was here imo.
