Follow up on the SLBBQ 50 best....Ribs...Who ya got?

Here's my top 3:
1 - Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati and Blue Ash, OH. I know, it ain't the south, but still the best I've evar had.
2 - Hogshead Cafe, Richmond, VA. I'd bet xtiger can vouch for these.
3 - Smokin Pig, Pendleton. Yeah, yeah, but they're dayum good.
FTR - I'm not a fan of the big St. Louis/KC ribs.

High five on Montgomery Inn

Wife is from Cincinnati so have had many meals at the Boat House and in Montgomery (Blue Ash?--not familiar)
It's not southern, it violates every rule of rib cooking, and they're amazing.

We do ribs at home far more than going out for them.

But I will say that for an average (at best) BBQ joint, The Dixie Pig in RH has never disappointed me with their ribs. Pulled pork and smoked chicken there are nothing special. Brisket there is an absolute no-go. Probably haven't been there since the first Covid molecule hit Rock Hill, but never a complaint about the ribs. Certainly not the best, but if I find myself there that's what I'm ordering.

There used to be a seafood / Greek place here that did pretty good Greek ribs with rosemary and lemon that was the exception

In no particular order:
-Central BBQ in Memphis
-There used to be a hole in the wall called TBones in the Murrell's Inlet/Garden City area (not the chain but a stand alone restaurant) that had some amazing ribs and all you can eat on one weekday night. It's closed down. Maybe my nostalgia has kicked in, but I put it up there.
-Hard not to rank Lewis's in there.
-There's a food truck run by two old men in Charleston and I can't remember the name. They sell award-winning Q (have the trophies to back it), and their ribs are insane.

I think people give smokin’ pig too much credit

Because all of their sides are great. Brisket is good, the rest is alright. Not worth the money they charge by no means. Smokin’ Pig’s baked beans mixed with their hot bbq sauce then a side of their banana pudding are the best sides in the bbq bidness.

uses King Arthur cornmeal mix and Jiffy golden yellow cake mix. Goes great with spicy chili. Tried it like my grandpa used to do it and crumbled it in a glass with buttermilk... Not a fan of that.

Not a pig rib purist, beef ribs are a different story. But I do piggy bones a buncha different ways, don’t matter what cut.
Mexi-Q- dry rub based on guajillo, pasillas, or arbols. Usually do a vinegary green sauce with.
Coke ribs- not as bad as they sound, good crisp to’em.
Caribbean-hot peps, lime, butter mainly. These actually cook most of the time on a direct low flame. Labor intensive, but gaaaahhhhhhhhh ( Homer noises) they’re good.
