Both are true. He is doing great on the recruits, but obviously coaching/develop hasn't translated.

Mac Brown has always been a great recruiter but never a good player developer or game coach.

I don't know. 158-48 at Texas. 9 straight 10 win seasons. 10-5 in bowl games. 13 AP ranked teams. 7 in the top 10 AP. A Natty. Undefeated in 2005. Seems like he was able to develop his Longhorn players. Maybe he's not as good at it now. Maybe the Tarheel teams are simply not as good.

His staff has some high marks in the recruiting game too.

Like Clemson for some time, if he keeps the staff consistent I would assume they'll just get better at it also.

Ol Mac's still got it.... for a bit at least
