Favorite Gameday Parking

Mar 12, 2016, 6:52 AM

Reading the Lot 2 post and some of the comments got me thinking. I've heard lots of opinions about tailgating spots over the years based on traffic, proximity, view, etc. What's your favorite tailgating spot?

I'm in the Cemetery Hill lot, and for me it's mostly good. Love the close walk to the stadium. Can't see much of anything going on around us, which is part positive (privacy) and part negative. We usually take a stroll downtown and/or to Tiger Walk if we want to see the sights. Biggest negative last year was some mud, although it was minimal compared to some lots. Biggest positive was the shade, which is my top priority.

Your turn.

I am on Centennial Blvd extension near Shotgun Alley. Nice grassy area behind us, plenty of room to set-up and everyone has tents, grills, etc. Also fun to wave (sometimes with one finger!) at the opposing team as they drive in to the locker rooms.

Look forward to seeing the other team drive up on their bus every single game. One of my favorite things about game day.

PBX. Good tailgating. Awesome access/exit (we come up and go out from the south past golf course to arrive/leave); numbered space because we can't always get to the lot early; we overlook lot 5 - for the Tiger Walk (don't always want to 'fight or join the people press' to line the road for the ream's entrance; and it's only a few hundred yards walk to the WEZ gate...

We did Cemetary Hill/Lot 7, hut disliked the hike ('climb' :) to the stadium and the traffic jam exiting - not to mention having to cross three lanes of traffic to go south on Cherry off Perimeter. Loved the shade!

Went to last game against wake and also did pbx lot. It was kinda sweet being up on that hill. However we tailgated with my cousin in lot 5. Then that hill was a beeeetch.

It's the post-game walk uphill that gets me. We're near the top so not much on the way in. Yes, the shade is good.

Lots of great tailgate spots in Clemson

Mar 12, 2016, 11:28 AM

I parked in lot 2 for many years. I thought it was the best. Then I moved to lot 21. Now I love 21/22.

21 is paved and spaces are marked. When it rains, the pavement is welcome. Plenty of trees on the sides of the lot if you get there early. Easy walk to the stadium. Permanent and clean restrooms in Lee Hall. An added bonus is that in coming and going to Lot 21, you see several of the other great tailgate options and can easily stop and visit friends at other tailgates along the way. When the game is over, it's almost always a breeze to get out of 21 and onto the highway, usually ahead of many other lots. This is a great benefit for night games when all the tailgating comes early.

I've been to a lot of other schools for games. Clemson is easily the best venue for a home game and especially for tailgating.

I agree. For the many years I went without season tickets, I parked at Mellow Mushroom, starting when it was $15-20!

My Dad is a veteran and is handicapped. My parents who are season ticket holders are able to park in the handicapped parking lot and Clemson will bus them over to the game. Leaving the game, sometimes it takes well over an hour to even get back to their car. That part is a but of a pain.....but here's the thing....if Clemson did not offer this option, my parents would never be able to attend a Clemson game. I am so grateful to Clemson for having this option. Going to Clemson football games is one joy that has not been taken away thanks to their consideration.

Lol.. Champion.. It wasn't ours but for a season we got to use it and it was great. But then of course how can walking from your parking space a few feet go through the gate walk down ten steps and tell like hell. That was a great experience

Years ago while I was still in school, my Dad won 4 tickets to the game and a parking pass from the company he worked for. The parking was right outside the gate by the hill. It really was incredible.
