I'm tired of hearing about how "competitive" Chad Kelly is.

Apr 13, 2014, 5:24 PM

He obviously loves to play football, and win, but competitive players play well and put themselves in position to win. And when they lose, they may not like it but they own up to it.

Chad Kelly acted like a punk yesterday. I don't care how good he was in high school, who is uncle is, or how many tweets he posts which make him sound all tough and competitive. What I've seen on the field suggests that he's all talk and not much of a competitor.

I'm waiting to be proven wrong. I hope I am.

yesterday was a disappointment for everyone involved...

except chad if you're right, judge.

final day of the masters, i think it was jack that said you can't win the tournament on thurs, but you sure can lose it.

i hope yesterday wasn't an opening round 80 for chad.

Jack was a terrific winner.....

Apr 13, 2014, 7:39 PM

but he was an even better loser. He was as competitive as anyone that ever stepped on the golf course, but when he lost (19 time runner up in majors) he was as gracious as anyone. We all could learn from the greatest of all time.

I'll bet we have lots of guys who are super competitive.

Apr 13, 2014, 5:54 PM

They don't get easily frustrated and cry when things don't go their way. There is nothing admirable or desirable about that trait in a player, and it's laughable to hear all of the people on here trying to spin it that way.

I still want to know what he cries ab all the time, need examples besides yesterday. I hope Dabo isn't one of the people on here talking ab Chad in a bad way, please oh please Dabo, want to beat good teams like Scar and FSU and put in a guy that hates every one of them and wants to beat them by 1000. This isn't 1960, kids are gonna say what they want to say. Clemson is no different from every one else, all these crazy standards are absurd. I just don't get it, but maybe I'm missing something

Nothing wrong with Kelly

Apr 13, 2014, 6:37 PM

He will tough this out and everyone will be better.

I have told my youth teams many times .. give me players who cry when they lose and I will not lose many! I haven't

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are darn right. I don't want a good loser.***

Not in that respect it isn't.There is no age limit on the desire to win...........

Lots wrong with Kelly

Apr 13, 2014, 11:00 PM [ in reply to Nothing wrong with Kelly ]

Big difference in crying when you lose and crying because you didn't get your way to go for it on fourth down in the second quarter of the SPRING GAME! And then continue to basically throw a tantrum to every coach on the sideline.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

More examples? Okay, that's easy. He went to coaches last

Apr 13, 2014, 7:47 PM [ in reply to Re: I'll bet we have lots of guys who are super competitive. ]

December out of frustration over a lack of playing time. He said that he and the coaches bumped heads then. This is nothing new.

I'm not talking bad about Chad Kelly - I'm just commenting on his very public behavior. I don't dislike Chad Kelly; I hope he grows up and gets his attitude right so that he can realize his potential, reach his goals, and help Clemson win football games.

If anybody should be whining...

Apr 13, 2014, 7:58 PM

...it's Cole Stoudt, who has repeatedly proven himself to be a superior QB to Kelly, but has not been declared the starter because of the coaches' insistence on there being a QB battle. The coaches have their reasons, which I respect, but I truly hope it's not because of Kelly's last name or his complaints.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kelly was in a tough spot yesterday in this format...

Apr 13, 2014, 7:28 PM

His special sauce is his mobility - basically half of his game was shut down with the one-hand-touch rules in place. Stoudt's strength is as a drop back passer, and the rules heavily favored that approach yesterday.

Having said that, at this point in his tenure Kelly should at least possess the maturity to understand this and not freak out like he did, both on and off the field.

Getting benched the 2nd half was the right move. We can only hope that the message sticks with him going forward.

I'm amazed at some of you fans. You DO NOT cuss out and MF the coaches, including the head coach, EVER!!!!! From what people are saying behind the bench, that is what happened.

Swag?????? You want that?????? Then maybe you should reconsider your allegiance, to Clemson. We deserve and expect better than that.

Re: Kelly was in a tough spot yesterday in this format...

Apr 13, 2014, 9:26 PM

It is very disappointing but the kid has 2 choices.....he can either learn from this and start showing his coaches the respect they deserve.....or he can go play ball somewhere else. Let's hope he chooses the former.....the last thing in the world we need is for him to go on a twitterfest and bash Clemson and its coaches.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Twitterfest is probably what we will see in August

Apr 13, 2014, 11:04 PM

when he doesn't win the job. He has done nothing in his time here to suggest that he would take not winning the starting job in a mature manner.

according to his own words,,,,he did not want to be a "live" qb in practice, But wanted in the Spring game...which is a practice???

Can;t have it both ways

Not trying to be argumentative. But I just heard Tajh Boyd himself say there isn't a more competitive person in the team than Kelly.

Re: ... and Sammy mentioned him during his interview.***

Apr 14, 2014, 6:40 AM

Of course they did. Everyone associated with this team ALWAYS SAY THE RIGHT THINGS!!! They talk about TEAM and WORKING TOGETHER and SPEAK POSITIVELY ABOUT COACHES AND TEAM MATES. Even Cole said in one interview after the spring game that he didn't know what happened on the other sideline but, "this is a team, and as always we support each other". But there is one player who doesn't get that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What'd you do, study my posts?

Apr 14, 2014, 7:14 AM

Seems a lot of people - including the article writers - confuse competitive with combative.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Looks like you will be waiting a while

it's a shame
