Long says committee will make rankings based on game film.

Oct 30, 2015, 12:41 PM

My question is...who is providing game film? They can't possibly watch entire games from 30 or so teams. If they are being fed highlights, who is providing the highlights? ESPN mostly? We know which conferences teams they will be highlighting!

Yeah ... sounds like horse puckey to me ...

I bet they watch college football final ... that is the extend of their research.

I would bet they have a video staff like all the teams do that cut the games down to remove all the running clock dead time. I bet if you cut the game down to just the actual plays, you would have about 20 minutes of film to watch for each game.

That would still be 80 hours of film to watch

If you take 30 teams x 8 games X 20 minutes = 80 hours.

Why would they be considering 30 teams. Why wouldn't they just choose, say, the top 8 most playoff eligible teams to do that kind of analysis on?

because OSU was ranked 13th or so at this point***

And I doubt they watch games against scrub teams.

I think they get all game film from ESPN. And I do believe that they are coded for each team. For example Alabama would be SEC1546.

And Clemson would be NONSEC1547.
