Why is that crazy?

He is just saying humans need to act and what we are doing is unsustainable. The vast majority of scientists around the world agree with him about the general issue. Only Trump supporters around the US don't believe in it. On an interesting note, the Russians completely believe man is a factor and it's real. They think it's odd that anyone denies it. Their view is interesting though. They view that we should do nothing, or that they won't do anything, because climate change is good for the Russian economy. The change in climate is a boom so far for their economy and in their best interest.

You go with ignorance, your gut, and maybe prayer. Maybe Steve Doocy or Seean Hannity might guide you a little bit. I'll stick with the scientists and the best and the brightest on Earth. By the way Einstein, the Russians aren't that liberal. I don't care if this whole world falls to pieces because I won't be here. Ignorant people like yourself on this particular issue are so cray cray. Partisan politics has rotted your brain. lutz Don't worry about it though, because you won't be alive when it the problems get extreme anyway.

He is talking in possibly centuries. He isn't talking 10 years. You're thinking checkers. He is talking chess. He is talking about how the Earth could become uninhabitable one day. If you follow him closely he always has theories of things that could end civilization. He is not as smart as you of course though.

They aren't in on anything. They just believe in it as a government. You were confused obviously, again. Everyone on Earth just about believes in it. Trump supporters are the only ones that don't. It's just a fact.

"Everyone on Earth just about believes in it. Trump supporters are the only ones that don't. It's just a fact."
This statement, like the one you made above, smacks of brain-washed talking points. Anybody with a brain believes in climate change, even "Trump supporters," whoever that is supposed to be. I would love to find some kind of citation to confirm that everyone other than "Trump supporters" in the world believe that man can have that kind of effect (causing it to be 250 degrees) on the climate. Many people accept the natural "evolution" of the planet. Temperatures have changed dramatically over period on the the earth well before I was burning styrofoam cups in my backyard. The temperature has gone up, it's gone down.
So all the "OMG! You Don't Believe In Science" People start squealing. Yes, we believe in science. We also believe in politically-driven propaganda. This tired argument is very similar to calling someone racist that doesn't agree with your point.

This is the type of talk that got Trump elected. People are sick of this crap
There is no way to have an honest discussion with someone like that.

but it's fact. You don't appreciate that reality. I respect that. I wouldn't like it if I were you either. Trump supporters, in general, are the only ones that don't believe in the science now. Even the oil companies have all come out and admitted it is factual now. There is one last group of hold outs on Earth in general speaking and they are Trump supporters. Might hurt your feelings, but that is fact. Sorry. I still think you seem like a good dude.

you try to push it back on me like I'm being emotional about it. "It hit close to home." That's why I fight even responding to posts like that. I'll admit generalizations drive me crazy, and if they are bait, I admit to falling for it.
I like you too. I am in no way insulted or intimidated. Just pointing out that either one of two things is happening: you are either blindly following what you have been told or you are arrogant enough to think that people who disagree with you are ignorant.

on the particular issue, so I am sure they know. Now if you want to talk about why maybe the US shouldn't do anything as far as climate change. The Russians aren't going to put much effort into going clean in the end. They want climate change. They have huge real estate developing going on in north. They have tons of new jobs working with the natural resources. Their public is thrilled. It's great for them. They view it as just part of way the world is moving and there are winners and losers. Basically everyone in the world, outside of Trump supporters, know the basic facts. The only thing debatable is what to do about it if anything at all.

anyway. Humanity WILL cease to exist. The odds of humanity being wiped out by a flu pandemic, or airborn ebola, etc. are far higher and will happen thousands of years faster than we will could ever bring Earth to Venus temperatures. Besides, we all lived on Venus until we polluted it and entered the mothership called Noah's Ark and flew to Earth and colonized the planet. I read that on Twitter, so it must be true.

to enough data to make a specific prediction like that. We do not understand all the variables that effect climate change. We are overselling how much we understand about the universe when we try and quantify the unquantifiable.
Another example of bad angle of attack on Trump. Focus on his obvious failures and shrtcomings. Don't go picking unwinnable battles.

I agree with you there. Trump will be out of office within 7.5 years or sooner. He can't say that we are the last holdout to save the world from the extremes if we don't start tomorrow. Also, private innovation may make the changes. Maybe the government and wasting money abroad isn't the issue. He just knows climate change is an extreme issue and knows that the US has to be on board to make a difference. He just sees what could happen way down the road. I am sure you follow him and you know how he is extreme. He talks a lot about how civilization could end.

I am not really as knowledgeable about Stephen Hawking

as I should be.
And I know the human condition on Earth is unsustainable in its current form. But I also know that the "scientific community" presents its theories as more certain than they really are. Especially when it comes to climate change.
We barely understand the surface of the Sun. We don't even have like a .0000000000000001% grasp of our Universe and how magnetic fields and solar crap effect our weather. It very well could be the case that factors outside of human control could be 90% or more of the overall cause for climate change. We have all this data that seems to suggests human pollution corresponds to more erratic weather, but correlation doesn't equal causation. We do not know, yet we pretend we do. And this "consensus bias" isn't helpful if none of us have access to enough data.
And when you add the ultra-specific claims Hawking just made, it's radical scientism.

Hawking isn't a partisan, he could care less about American politics.
I agree his claim seems pretty out there.
But I also believe that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
As for attacking Trump, I agree...his obvious flaws are fertile ground.

It was somewhere between a formal proof that black holes could exist and later when he proved they couldn't. I didn't care one way or the other but he made a fool of 'scientist,' everywhere.
I could be wrong because I halfaszed watched a stupid movie about his life. I'm still waiting on someone to point out what he's done that was significant to anyone but a math professor.
I most enjoyed his appearances on South Park.
