At some point I guess guys grow up

Maybe not. I know I don't ever remember being like this...
I went to a friends house for dinner Sat night and his college aged daughter (no pigs) and her boyfriend were there.
Apparently, friend of and his wife have made the boyfriend comfortable enough that he doesn't have any problem getting chit faced drunk around them (and their friends), and dude runs his mouth when he drinks. A LOT. Like, he never shut up about how bad USC was going to beat Clemson. I asked him why he thought that and his reply was 'They just HAVE to!" I just let him run his mouth and never really replied, because...why. Other friends that was there asked me if all USC fans were like that. "Yes, pretty much."
Holy chit, from telling us all the drugs all his friends are doing, to who he knows that OD'd, to blathering on about how fast his POS car is (was) that he just wrecked..the reasons to bounce this guy out of her life never seemed to stop. All her dad kept saying was "He's never like this unless he drinks" and it was all I could do to only make a face back at him in return.
Honestly, I'm not sure how the human race has continued to propagate if this is how young men really are. The girl is not bad looking, probably a little b!tchy, but tolerable when you are 21. I'm not sure what good qualities this guy has; maybe he has a huge hawg. I don't see any potential knowledge or anything going on with this guy may have that would make him attractive to anyone. He seemed like the kinda guy who will flunk out of college 1.5 semesters before graduating then end up working in a Verizon store or a vape shop somewhere.

When someone is extolling the virtues of doing DMT and how awesome it is..I mean how do I even respond to that?
Oh, that and his friend only OD'd twice..but once wasn't his fault because his heroine was laced with fentanyl and he didn't know it.
Maybe I am that far removed from modern social engagements.

BF had been drinking. Starts dropping F bombs all over the place and felt the need to randomly tell me a GREAT story bout how he almost fought his HS baseball coach.
I said GOODNIGHT and went to bed. He went home. Had a long talk with TRDJita the next morning about riding with someone that had been drinking, boundaries, lines and where/how they get crossed, foul language, and more.
Did get a solid in person apology from the kid the next day. Not sure he'll ever recover from it in terms of how I view him.

It's a very strange phenomenon. Similarly a lot of dudes seem to gravitate to the biggest bisch they can find, a lot of times these people aren't even attractive.
He'll probably have 3 DUI's by the time he's 27 and end up living with his parents. If your friends are big enough push overs, he may even end up living with them. I SEENT IT HAPPEN

Maybe they're in the same friend group
Nov 22, 2021, 10:57 AM
|
|
You'll notice a lot of people form little cliques, and they'll make major life decisions based off what they think the group would approve of. Everything is done as a group, and they're all used to each other, so when they get out of the pack sometimes they don't realize how ridiculous their behavior actually is since the friend group has always been approving.
I've got several theories on the psychology behind it, maybe I should lie about my academic credentials and write a book someday.

My understanding is that They hung out with a group of friends together for a while before she started dating this prize winner.
She seemed content on hanging out with her parents and their friends Saturday, but after he watched Carolina win and had a few more drinks he insistently had to go to go downtown to go dancing. I assumed what this really meant was to go do psychedelics with loud music.
I mean when I was 21 there's no way you could make me leave a house where I had free food and liquor to go to a dance club 7 miles away in an uber, then later try and find a drunken, high ride home. I mean I would have been out at "dance club", but that's a whole 'nother thing.

want to do exactly what he wants, and it's easier to give in. The friend group dynamic is real man, I suspect there's a lot of unhappy marriages out there that stem from it. There's usually a distinct hierarchy, there's typically a leader I label the Papabear of the group. Papabear may have a right hand man/woman, but most of the time his cubs will mold their personalities/behavior around his. Given what you describe, it sounds like he might be the Papabear, if so he also summoned up the rest of the cubs to meet them downtown. I bet if you pushed her parents on it, they'd say she seems more stressed out/anxious and not as happy since being with him.
He wanted to go dancing? Is she sure he isn't homasex?

An she doesn't seem like the kind to put up with it.
Like I said, I assumed the need to go to a "dance club" was just either do, or get drugs. Now that I kinda think about all this, he's going to end up arrested.
She was saying she wanted to go to a place that has several different bars in it that are all mostly a place to hang out. Even she didn't seem big on the dance club thing.
What you are saying is pretty much spot on.
