LOL at $EC, BIG....

Check this out from Danny Kanell

Hope the CFP committee sees this. Creampuff $EC and BIG schedules are b.s.

4 out of the top 5 is a statement. Then U of L at #9 fives the ACC 5 of 10, with the PAC having 4 of 10, leaving Texas as the only non ACC/PAC schools in the Top 10. Wow - @ the rest of the POWER 5 Conferences.

hmmm but part of it may be

Jun 8, 2018, 9:47 AM

4 of the 5 ACC teams(pitt plays PSU) play an SEC team which is going to have some sort of inflated value. Meanwhile UGA, PSU and UK probably don't get the same bump by playing their ACC counterpart(deflated value). Clemson and FSU should be propping up UCS/UF's schedule so the big question is where are those 2? ......... and of course the SEC will hide behind their conf schedules being so tough

Re: LOL at $EC, BIG....

Clemson rated at #4 because it plays 2 SEC teams OOC? I mean Furman and Ga Southern are the reason Clemson is rated #4 on that list?

Let's be honest

TAMU and Ga Southern are the reason

I said this last year about SC's game with LA Tech and I'll say it about their game this year with Marshall: That game will be closer than people think.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, Marshall might only win by ten or so.***

Jun 8, 2018, 10:42 AM

This is one man’s preseason strength of schedule poll before a single game has been played on June 7th. This has as much relevance as a preseason poll. Remember when Alabama/FSU was marketed as a "possible national title preview" last year? Have you looked at how much these strength of schedule polls change throughout the year? They are generally only relevant when a decent sample of games have been played. If the CFP committee pays this any attention then I would be concerned.

Re: LOL at $EC, BIG....

Jun 8, 2018, 10:44 AM

Oh, please. There is no denying the $EC/BIG weak out of conference schedule. In particular, the BIG. Just stop already.

That "one man" is the main SEC writer for ESPN.

Jun 8, 2018, 10:51 AM [ in reply to Re: LOL at $EC, BIG.... ]

So, funny he left SEC teams off the list. He has the most knowledge about the SEC teams as any writer at ESPN and he left them off his list.

Weird, huh.

Jun 8, 2018, 10:58 AM [ in reply to Re: LOL at $EC, BIG.... ]

Out of conference opponents are scheduled years in advance for the most part and is a small percentage of the overall schedule. Coordinating “quality” opponents is not an easy task. You need to look no further than the Clemson/UGA game.

Clemson - UGA

Used to not be an issue until GEORGIA pulled out of the series.

Seriously...that's an argument?

Jun 8, 2018, 11:16 AM [ in reply to Re: LOL at $EC, BIG.... ]

And yet, annually, the $EC has ten of the top 20-25 teams in the country in the preseason polls. Then the public is supposed to sit back and think their incestuous consumption of one another is some remarkable feat, for which scheduling a Chattanooga, Savannah State, and Idaho are to help them recover for their next mash-up? $ECers will use selective 'presumption' to justify the bashing of Kannel's opinion, yet will trumpet the preseason Top 20 with impunity. Pretty sure that meets the test of 'hypocrisy'.

Re: Seriously...that's an argument?

Jun 8, 2018, 11:49 AM

Perhaps some clarification is in order. I do not buy into the validity of any preseason rankings or strength of schedule at this point. It is an argument that is quickly invalidated once the games begin. My response was generally geared toward the assertion that CFP voters should pay attention to this poll. Scheduling stronger out of conference opponents would only grow the game and increase revenue for all parties involved. However, given the current model and operations the schools in all conferences do not feel an adequate amount of pressure to change.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's a fair 'clarification'!

But the $EC conference schedule is so tough...you know with Kentucky, Vandy, UT, Ole Miss, Arky, Mizzo, SC, etc...those SEshe teams have to bring it every week!!

Re: LOL at $EC, BIG....

Jun 8, 2018, 12:32 PM

There is one thing lacking in this discussion. No where is there mention of the cupcakes the SEC teams play. We should compare the cupcakes the ACC teams play with the cupcakes the SEC teams play. I haven't seen the complete schedules of the SEC and ACC teams so can't contribute my BIASED opinion at the moment.

badge-ringofhonor-joe21.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: LOL at $EC, BIG....

Jun 8, 2018, 12:40 PM

And I forgot to add. The SEC teams that attempt to denigrate the ACC teams overlook the fact that any out-of-conference games they schedule with any ACC team strengthens their schedule.

Of course your OC schedule is tough.... two of your opponents are SEC teams. Speaks volumes.

Wrong. Again. USCjr. actually hurts our strength of schedule. $EC lEast is a joke.

Florida exemplifies SEC scheduling...

Jun 8, 2018, 7:07 PM

Last year was the first time Florida has played a non-conference football game outside of the state of Florida since 1991 (non bowl games). They haven’t won an out of state non-conference game since 1989.

That’s the SEC for you.

Re: LOL at $EC, BIG....

Jun 10, 2018, 11:53 AM

The ACC and SEC should dominate this list, being the only two of the major conferences still only playing eight conference games. Funny that the SEC isn't represented. Weak.
